How are the other entries coming along?

I will be working on the kydex sheath today, along with finishing up the handle scales and finish work, it has a bead blast finish at the moment(I will be doing something special with that later)

Dave - I like that! Very similar to a pattern that I make, though the approach in construction is different.

I'll get a sheath made for mine when I get back from Blade and sharpen it and it'll be done.

There are some awesome designs in this! Ive enjoyed watching the Works in Progress. I envy the Testers mightily! Im sure they are gonna have a blast beating all these high-quality beasts to hell and back!

I have no idea who's gonna come out the winner....but I think we the consumers will be the real Winners.....lots to be learned from a project like this, and Im sure some of you have tried new things for this challenge.
Simply Awesome.

I can't wait for the results from this. I really want to see what these knives can hold up to.

Handle is Agentine lignum vitae. Blade is 10 1/4", steel is 13/64" 5160.

I am a newb, but just wanted to say that this is some of the best "steel-porn" I've seen - thanks for sharing! I live in Johannesburg, South Africa and am inspired by you masters-of-the-craft. After seeing such great work, i couldn't help grabbing a piece of 50x6mm 5160 and grinding away:thumbup:

Finished up the sheath today. This sheath was quite a challenge for me as my kydex press is only 8"x12" so I had to improvise with beach towels and 2"x10"'s. Also this is only my 2nd open-backed kydex sheath. It has a cross-draw attachment w/ Tek-lock, and a semi-drop-leg attachment, also w/ Tek-Lock. I was going to add a leather strap across the back and around the handle area for added security, but the retention from the kydex is pretty strong on its own. I tried to get the blade to fall out of the sheath but was unsuccessful. Whole package will be completely finished by the end of the week.

Both attachments are adapted for righty's. The pictures were taken in a mirror.

love it Bruce -- makes me think of a Hudson Bay on steroids.
Dave the kydex looks good, too.

ALL FINISHED!!! FINALLY!!! Man this one was a PITA at times, especially the sheath. Brilliant ol' me...thought it would be a great idea, to set the Kydex sheath...in direct sunlight...on a hot day...on an already hot surface...and forget it for a few hours. Spent most of the rest of that day with a heat gun getting the sheath back to normal. Sorry no final pics of the blade, I will leave that to the tester...:D...
