Will be gone for a week -- no deals while I'm away.

Sounds like he is a fighter. The best of luck to you and yours. Have a safe trip. :)

Best wishes for your father, and have a safe trip. It's always nice to enjoy family time, even if it isn't always under the best circumstances. I've had to make my share of unplanned trips home as well.

Tell Frank "hi." Take care of yourself; we'll be thinking about both of you.

"in charge" can be rearranged to say "grin ache" :D

(I have no idea what that means...  :footinmou )

Talked with Dad yesterday and he sounds pretty fair for a 91 year old fellow who has just had a heart attack. Major gripe was he couldn't smoke his beloved cigarettes -- but at least they are giving him patches so he can get a little nicotine fix. He'll go home this weekend but I doubt if he will be able to make his usual pilgrimage to Cherokee, KS to visit Mom's grave on Memorial Day. So, Brother Fred and I will drive over to Springfield to see him. Dad wants me to bring him a carton of cigarettes and that I will absolutely do no matter what anybody says.

When Dad's Dad, James, my namesake, was dying in the hosptial his major gripe was he couldn't have his usual shot of whiskey in his AM coffee so Dad smuggled a bottle of whiskey into the hospital so his Dad could die happy. I guess it runs in the family.

Be well and safe on your journey. Return to us intact. I hope your father recuperates in good humor, knowing he is loved.

(Bruise is ALREADY talking about banning people!!! Power corrupts.)

After my Grandfather died a few years ago,
My mother told me all he had asked for
during his final days in the hospital
was to go "Home"; to the old farmstead.
She said, "That crazy old man would never
have made it down there. And if he had,
where would we have taken him?
The house was torn down years ago."

Still saddens me they didn't lay him in the
back of the pickup and head down to the old home.
They could have visited extended family in the area.
So what if he died on the way?
He would have been just a little happier for
a little while.
