Will the warranty cover this?

I am very close to buy a RC-6 or junglas but I have a few questions about the warranty while I would never abuse a knife it would be comforting to know whatever happens I am covered in case of a accident or my idiot friend who thinks you sharpen knives by chopping rocks in half gets ahold of it.

1. Would it be covered if I were to hit a nail, rock or other hard object and had the blade chip?

2. would it be covered if I were to get major edge deformation?

3. While this would never happen would it still be covered if I were to do something intentionally stupid like attacked a 55 gallon drum, threw it or other abuse?

yes
yes
yes

the only things not covered are A) wear and tear B) rust

Whats defined as wear and tear? I tend to drop my knives into rocks A LOT I'm not sure if minor edge chipping and damage would be wear and tear. Though I'm not sure if it would be a problem from watching noss4's test a cinderblock barely damaged which was a lot better than I was expecting for plain 1095.

While yes everything would be covered, I would recommend picking up a XXC DMT stone and sharpening out anything besides a blade breakage. Might not look amazing if you get a 5mm chip, but it gets that nice worn look. :)

wear and tear is generally just use, say if you have an izula and use it/sharpen it down to nothing. then it wouldnt be covered. i dont think you have to worry, if you break or damage any part of the knife it is covered.

This is the warranty info directly from the ESEE website. The only exceptions they list are Normal Wear & Tear & Rust. So take care of your knives, and if for any reason they break, it will be covered. Intentional or not.

Good luck, Les.

Warranty Info

If you break it, we will replace it. Warranty is transferable. In other words,
we warranty the knife no matter how many times it's been traded,
sold or given away.
You MUST complete this form and return it with your knife. You
must email us a tracking number and the reason you are
returning the knife for warranty repair. We suggest you email
us before you ship the knife to make sure the knife is covered since
we do not warranty normal wear and tear. The knife MUST BE returned
using a Priority Mail box.
We do not warranty against rust or normal wear and tear.
Note: Our knives are made from high carbon 1095 steel. And
while 1095 is a top choice for professional cutlery
designed for hard use, it will rust and stain if not properly
cared for - especially on the cutting edge and around
the laser engraving. It is the user's responsibility to keep
the blades properly lubricated and cleaned. We suggest
using a dry film rust inhibitor such as TUF-GLIDE or TUF-CLOTH.
This warranty does not apply to the new Lite Machete
or our soft goods line. Please view this page for warranty
information on the Lite Machete.

A lot of folks have asked us how we can stay in business
offering such great customer service and warranty
protection. The answer is simple; we believe that American
consumers, as a whole, are honest people. The occasional
customers who are dishonest are few and far between,
so even if we lose every once in a while due to
dishonesty, our reputation of great customer service, regardless
of the situation, brings us more good customers. Randall's
Adventure & Training only guarantees and offers customer

service on knives built by ESEE Knives (Formerly RAT Cutlery Company)
and any knife manufactured by RAT Cutlery Company before the
name changed to ESEE Knives. Randall's Adventure & Training does not
guarantee or offer any customer service for knives that are manufactured
by any other company. Randall's Adventure & Training does not
guarantee or offer a warranty on any knife manufactured by Ontario
Knife Company. Please view the history page for more information.

I'm thinking ill be buying one then now I only need to find the place that sells them the cheapest, any recommendations?

Well not sure if you are in the world but if your in Canada like me i recomend workwearcanada.com they have pretty good prices and free shipping if you spend over $150.00 (i think thats how much i know my Junglas was shipped free) if your in the states im sue someone els will be replying soon.

If I were you I wouldn't worry about the warranty. That really shouldn't matter as much as people make it out to be. You should get it because you like the design, and need a cutting tool. The warranty is just a backup incases something did happen. Just because it HAS the warranty, doesn't mean you should want it for that soul purpose. Just my opinion, though.

they would be covered yes but if i had an idiot friend treat my knife like that he would be seeking help with his bullet wounds.

Wonder what happened to their "if you cut it in half with a torch" we'll replace it warranty? Were people abusing it?

Warranty is still there.

I have purchased from Knifeworks & The Knife Connection with stellar service from both Roger & Dale, good people at both shops.

Even if Esee knives had NO warranty , I'd still buy them.

I buy knives ,not warranties. Esee's warranty just happens to come along with my purchase ,and is the best in the business. Treat your knives with respect and don't lend them to fools ,and you'll probably never have to worry about it.

Yea. I don't often think about the warrenty when using my knives. I can see hitting a nail or a bad knot, but usually you know when you're stuck before any major damage is done. Then you just knock it out backwards and you've maybe got a small ding to fix.

I believe wear and tear refers mostly to beatup finishes, small dinged edges, and beaten up handles. Usual cost of using a knife stuff that doesn't really matter
