Wilson Rockwell Tester Help

Hey Allen, I am the one that Stacy help a while back by making a weight assembly. I have since passed it on to another knifemaker after I picked up some weights from eBay for $80.
What Stacy build for me was a pvc tube filled with steel shot with a hook on the top cap. On the hook were some small copper plates (approx .5”x.75x.030”) which using test blocks and a lot of trial and error, I was able to sand a bit off to get it near perfect for my machine. I don’t have any photos unfortunately. If you look at this site you can see what they look like. https://www.brystartools.com/hardness-tester-weights/

How much adjusting did the weights you bought need? From reading online it seams like the sets are calibrated for each tester at the factory. And that you can’t just interchange weight sets

A bit, instead of adjusting the weights I adjusted the machine. “Index lever adjustment” from the manual. I luckily picked up a nice test block set in a wooden case with about 25 test blocks, and diamond indentors. I am right on the money from about 50hrc-68hrc. (+/- .1-.2) But at low 25hrc and hi 101hrc I am about .8-1.5 off.

JT I made the weight. I only adjusted the speed at which the dash pot allows the weight to drop at to Wilson Specs.
