I won this knife in a context and I'm passing it on via contest. Here's a pic and info from www.dozierknives.com

whit.jpg

Overall Length: 7"
Blade Length: 3" at 60-61 Rc.
Blade Thickness: .125
Blade Specs: Full tang construction
Weight: 3.4 oz. without sheath
Handle: Black Micarta® handle.
Sheath: Style "A" sheath.
Price: $195.00

Summary: You must fashion a knife out of non traditional materials, attach photographs of it, write catalog entry or advertising for it and if possible also having a testing review and with pix. The most fun, clever, entertaining three entries will be chosen by me, final winner by bladeforums poll.

Specific rules:

- US only and MUST be over 18.

- Must have at least a BF Basic membership to be eligible for consideration before the final selection made.

- Must be a member in good standing, ie previously banned people or people on the bad and ugly end of GBU are NOT eligible.

- Use non knife materials, legos, cardboard, popsicle sticks, duct tape, etc. only. You can use wood, but the point is quirky AND entertaining! Seriously professional wood (or other) knives is NOT what we're looking for.

- This one is for Ren, no poo knives.

- Fixed blade OR Folder.

- Must post pictures of knife on this thread.

- Extra points for advertising copy and review (with pix).

- Extra points for effort, for example Tapioca puddling inlay in the handles would boot your chances.

- MUST be clever and entertaining to read about and look at.

- You may enter as many times as you wish, but each "knife" must be separately named, pix, writeup.

- Contest ends April 1, I'll pick the final three, then I'll make a poll and BF membership at large will pick the final winner the week following April 1.

- I ship the knife to the ultimate winner.

- Don't forget to be clever and entertaining.

Any questions? ( I may adjust rules in case I forgot something)

So it's like a "If you were a art knifemaker in jail, what would you do?" contest?

I can't participate, but I might try just for fun :)

The idea is good.

DaveH,
I read your thread earlier today and I like that Dozier....while walking around outside this afternoon, I found a sliver of wood and the edge was sharp. I picked it up ... don't know if I'll get anything done with it or not.

This is a neat thing you've got going here. I hope you get folk's creative juices flowing.

:)

I'll bring the thread up once every day or two.

Gosh, maybe no one wants the knife...

Well, I do...just a matter of getting off my backside to do something.

This is actually a neat thing you've got going. I, too, am surprised at the lack of response. If no one is interested, maybe you should sell me that whittler for a decent price.

:)

Have you ever sat down for some cold chocolate milk and wondered......couldnt I make chocolate milk easier? Sure you could smash up bars of chocolate like a normal man, but thats ooooh so messy. You could buy that Nesquick stuff; WHO KNOWS whats in that stuff. No no no, if your a REAL MAN or WOMAN you want the hottest thing in Chocolate Deserts AND KNIVES! Thats right.....I have here today a knife that will revolutionize all of your chocolate needs. The HERSHIUM...by barrabas74 co! This knife is sooooo unique that nothing like it has ever been seen before. We start off with our cryogenically created cardboaridium steel that takes an edge like no other:eek:  . The handles are hand crafted from the finest Pennsylvania hershstone making it darn near unbreakable, the only thing we could form the handles with was a diamond....and we went through 4 of those PER HANDLE! Oh did you notice that? Yes thats right we inlayed the handle with oreonite as rare as it is beautiful. The pins are made of both Oreonite and Plastisis.

Now I know what your saying......How do I get one and what does it cost? Well if you email me here today and VOTE FOR MY KNIFE on http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=461757 :D :D :D :D :D I will send you YOUR VERY OWN ABSOLUTLEY FREE! actual knife materials may not be as listed real are:10lb hershey bar, Oreo's, Cardboard,Plastic, Peanutbutter

In the picture you'll notice the HERSHIUM! It sits atop an 5lb bar of hershtone that we used the Hershium to cut into little pieces, it suffered NO blade damage, NO loss of edge and still shaves the hair of a babes butt with no resistance!

Remember folks...dont be fooled by what OTHER:rolleyes: forumites might post. I gaurantee that thier products wont have the "Awesomeness(patented by barrabas74co)" nor the "Coolstaticity(patented)" of the HERSHIUM. They'll trie to post lies and deceet, forshame. Vote Hershium....It'll make all your wildest dreams come true:D :D

Okay, I've been inspired to give this a shot. Here's my offering: The Y3K Ultimate Survival Knife.

y3koverview.jpg

This pretty little knife is hand-crafted in the USA using premium next-generation plastics for the ultimate in toughness and durability in an extremely lightweight package. The 3.5" blade features a sharpened swedge for back-cuts and very fine thumb grooves along the spine for greater control. It's a little difficult to make it out in the picture because the blade is partially transparent. This transparency combined with the fact that the Y3KUSK is completely non-metallic means that you'll always have this blade on you no matter where you go. It is completely undetectable by metal-detectors and nearly invisible to x-ray. (Pictured with space-age paper belt sheath with accessory pocket.)

But the Y3KUSK is more than just a deadly weapon, it is also the perfect survival tool. It features a hollow handle that can be used to store all kinds of survival gear- matches, tweezers, cash, you're only limited by your imagination. The optional handle wraps also provide you with additional survival material- your choice of twine, paracord or duct tape, perfect for lashing the Y3KUSK to a pole in order to fashion a spear. And did we mention that this knife is tough? It's not called the Ultimate Survival Knife for nothing. Just see how much abuse it can take.

y3ksurvival.jpg

As you can see in the following pictures, the Y3KUSK is without equal. No other knife that we know of can take the same abuse as our Ultimate Survival Knife. We clamped the blade to a vise and bent the blade to see if it would snap. Our Y3KUSK easily bent to 90 degrees... but we didn't stop there. See how we can bend the blade to not just 180, but even 360 degrees without a break! Now that's TOUGH! Of course, the blade didn't return to true when released, but it is still 100% usable. Let's see any other knife even come close!

Buy the Y3K Ultimate Survival Knife today and be prepared for any and all disasters that may happen between now and the next millennium.

Excellent!

That's what I'm talking about!

Remember I pick my three favorites and everyone votes for the ultimate winner from those three.

The 2 so far are awesome :)

I'm gonna work on something once I get finished with what I'm doing now (This is going to be a lot of fun).

Thanks for the contest Dave.

I am honestly quite frightened to think what some of these entries might be made of. I can see Ren taking a dump in a knife mold;) On second thought I better not give away any of these great Ideas that i am getting:D

Mayor McCheese and I are gonna have to go toe to toe on this if SOMEONE dont STEP IT UP. I am gonna do another one, dont make it be two of mine vs. one!

In all seriousness this is fun, those chocolate handles were a biotch and took a long time to do but its creative and gets you thinkin. I am suprised no knifemakers have brung it;)

Thanks, barabas. I like your blade too, although if I owned one I think I'd be licking it all day- and there are already more than enough people who think I'm a little strange.

And thanks to DaveH for the contest. Not only is that Whittler a very generous prize, but this was a really fun project. I haven't done something like this for a long time. When I was much younger I remember making darts out of toothpicks and bits of cotton then launching them out of a straw "blowgun" or one time making a crossbow out of cardboard, twine and a metal coat hangar. I used dried up fine-tip markers for bolts and that thing would punch holes in cardboard targets. I wish I had kept it. Thanks again, Dave!

I was going to make a Lego knife, and had some pretty good ideas, but I couldn't bring myself to take apart my Batmobile for the pieces, because it would take at least 2 hours to put back together.

I'll try and come up with something else though :)

Both of you two's entries are great, by the way.

Buy some other legos for goshsakes!

Plus you could use those little workmen characters in the testing shots, along with the caution signs, men at work. etc.

Hehe, yeah... we used to have at least a couple thousand Lego, but as me and my brothers got older my mom gave them away :(

They're still fun though... I can't see myself buying one of those buckets without any good pieces though, and the Batmobile is just asking to be displayed.

Going to be posting my contest entries in a few minutes :)
