Win A Free $700.00 Busse Custom Knife!!! . . . In The "Pig In A Poke" Contest. . . .

I was very late to the game last night when I checked my email and replied, but my only guess was this:

Nuclear
Meltdown
Search
And
Rescue
Eleven
Light
Brigade
Series
Limited
Edition

I don't have enough Busse acronym education to be wise about this but I've seen E for ergo. Since it may be a SAR series maybe Emergency or if there is a tactical bent, maybe Evasion?

I was thinking the E was for ergo too. I could be completely wrong, but I dont think Jerry would use E for 8, or 11, or 18, etc... when we've got so many other acronyms with numbers in them B11, SAR3,4,5,6,8... Granted this is a competition and all...

There are 3 rendtions of SAR blades from busse, the SAR5 with it's bussmuk style handle, the SARSquatch, and the SAR3/4/6/8. "SAR Elite" may be a completely new knife outside of the SAR3/4/6/8 style.

I have a SAR3 and a SAR4. So I know about them. However I doubt they are good candidates for the Light Brigade treatment. I also doubt that a SAR3LBE plus sheath would cost $700. The SAR5 wasn't very popular. So I doubted it would used either. I would have thought the acronym would be NMSARSquatchELBE, if it was based off the SARSquatch. If a SAR Elite is a completely new knife, it wouldn't be the Light Brigrade edition of anything. It would be a completely new knife. So That leaves the SAR6 and SAR8.

There's no reason why a new model wouldn't be introduced with the light brigade treatment. The SAR series was introduced with the Nuclear Meltdown treatment without it being in the acronym presented by busse, but that was because it was visible and there wasn't an untreated version before it that needed a separate acronym to identify the difference. In the case of the Light Brigade treatment, if you don't have it in the name there's nothing on the knife that would tell you that it's any different than the knives around it. If you don't say "This is a light brigade knife" you would assume that it's just a "SAR Elite". "Light Brigade" isn't something designed to change existing models - it's simply a handle treatment that can be applied to any knife, existing or newly designed, just like the Nuclear Meltdown treatment.

My point with bringing up the three variations on the SAR series moniker isn't to say "It's got to be one of those three", it's to say that "SAR" doesn't identify one style of knife. "SAR" within the busse nomenclature can mean whatever jerry wants it to mean, it's simply a knife he designed with Search And Rescue in mind. He can come out with any design seperate from the three existing styles and apply "Elite" to the SAR prefix and you have a new, and entirely seperate, SAR series.
