One thousand posts. The milestone at which a BFer leaves the spectre of newbieness behind and becomes a regular member of the community. Some BFers register with noble intent to lurk and and learn and read and look at the words and pictures of their fellow knife knuts, yet ultimately the odometer ticks over to four columns sooner than they realize. Others start out like an overpacked cannon shot, full of whiz and vinegar, and flame out long before making it to this plateau. I figured since I've never really been too committal about the typical internet forum, I'd commemorate the occasion (and the forum that was so good I kept coming back) with a traditional giveaway.
I thought long and hard about the knife I wanted to give away. I didn't want to give away another Case. I didn't want to give away another stockman. I picked through stag and horn and WW2-era woods and micarta, fixed and folded blades, not making any progress. I went through leaps of logic and imagination trying to cobble together a purpose for the GAW, a reason to make my fellow porch denizens come and read and post and learn and grow. In the end I settled on a knife that went against both my prerequisites. I decided to give away the same knife that I've found to be my go-to all year long, my "sits at the top of the pile" knife, my "got time to grab one knife and go" knife. The knife you named, even if you won't admit it here.
This GAW will be offering up the younger twin brother (yeah, so what) of my presumptive Knife of 2016: an amber jigged bone Case 6375 CV stockman.

2015 Case 6375 large stockman, 4¼" closed, 3 CV blades, in amber jigged bone. Very slight spotting, mostly on master, since this wasn't kept in the safe. GAW knife is meant to be a user, anyway. I want to see those patinas.

Seen here above its older twin, my EDC 6375 from 2003, Mac.
We're halfway through 2016. At this point most knife knuts should know which knife is the early favorite to win their "Knife of 2016" -- the one knife that handled the most tasks, or bore the brunt of the most worries, or was the target of some CF & CE the most. The go-to knife. Some might have a tough decision between two (or more?
). Others already know, even before the year's halfway point, what it's going to be.
To enter, tell us a little about the knife (or knives) you are considering to be your KotY, or Knife of 2016, now that we have already taken a bite out of June. That'll score you a single entry, though you can feel free to comment on others throughout (no extra entries for that, though). Anyone who adds a photo of their Knife of 2016, or the candidates for the honor, will score a second entry as long as it it is in the same post. I'll track the post numbers for entries but I'll be a gorilla in a zoo with a small boy nearby if I'm going to traipse through the thread multiple times connectin' the dots for yer bonus chances.
Normal disclaimers apply. Up to two entries per customer as per the above. Let's let it run for two weeks - last entries to be in before Saturday, 18 June at 0000 UTC (that's 8:00 PM for statesiders/damn yanks
).
Everybody's got a preference - let's see yours!
