One thousand posts. The milestone at which a BFer leaves the spectre of newbieness behind and becomes a regular member of the community. Some BFers register with noble intent to lurk and and learn and read and look at the words and pictures of their fellow knife knuts, yet ultimately the odometer ticks over to four columns sooner than they realize. Others start out like an overpacked cannon shot, full of whiz and vinegar, and flame out long before making it to this plateau. I figured since I've never really been too committal about the typical internet forum, I'd commemorate the occasion (and the forum that was so good I kept coming back) with a traditional giveaway.

I thought long and hard about the knife I wanted to give away. I didn't want to give away another Case. I didn't want to give away another stockman. I picked through stag and horn and WW2-era woods and micarta, fixed and folded blades, not making any progress. I went through leaps of logic and imagination trying to cobble together a purpose for the GAW, a reason to make my fellow porch denizens come and read and post and learn and grow. In the end I settled on a knife that went against both my prerequisites. I decided to give away the same knife that I've found to be my go-to all year long, my "sits at the top of the pile" knife, my "got time to grab one knife and go" knife. The knife you named, even if you won't admit it here. This GAW will be offering up the younger twin brother (yeah, so what) of my presumptive Knife of 2016: an amber jigged bone Case 6375 CV stockman.

2015 Case 6375 large stockman, 4¼" closed, 3 CV blades, in amber jigged bone. Very slight spotting, mostly on master, since this wasn't kept in the safe. GAW knife is meant to be a user, anyway. I want to see those patinas.

Seen here above its older twin, my EDC 6375 from 2003, Mac.

We're halfway through 2016. At this point most knife knuts should know which knife is the early favorite to win their "Knife of 2016" -- the one knife that handled the most tasks, or bore the brunt of the most worries, or was the target of some CF & CE the most. The go-to knife. Some might have a tough decision between two (or more?). Others already know, even before the year's halfway point, what it's going to be.

To enter, tell us a little about the knife (or knives) you are considering to be your KotY, or Knife of 2016, now that we have already taken a bite out of June. That'll score you a single entry, though you can feel free to comment on others throughout (no extra entries for that, though). Anyone who adds a photo of their Knife of 2016, or the candidates for the honor, will score a second entry as long as it it is in the same post. I'll track the post numbers for entries but I'll be a gorilla in a zoo with a small boy nearby if I'm going to traipse through the thread multiple times connectin' the dots for yer bonus chances.

Normal disclaimers apply. Up to two entries per customer as per the above. Let's let it run for two weeks - last entries to be in before Saturday, 18 June at 0000 UTC (that's 8:00 PM for statesiders/damn yanks :D).

Everybody's got a preference - let's see yours!

Good One TB
not an entry for me but a great gesture.
The 98 Texas Camp Knife which Charlie organised for me a few weeks ago (thanks again mate) has been my constant companion.
Definitely the winner for 2016.
cheers.

Not an entry, but yes, a thousand has three zeros. (Not much gets by you, does it)?

Not an entry but great GAW. I honestly don't have a go to. It changes like my underwear. I rarely carry the same knife two days in a row. Neck I switched up mid day today lol. I knew with the work around the house I was gonna need a one handed. Went from a RR canoe to Spyderco Cat

Yep, that just happened.

Not an entry, thanks for doing this and congrats on the 1k!

Yar: this is the traditional subforum and as such, it would likely be suggested by many to follow, that your post should contain a traditional knife.
That assertion is based upon speculation, but I would bet that most would agree.

Good luck to the entrants and thanks again!

My knife would have to be the coyote and 77 combo not sure what can knock them out of my pocket

Congratulations on the milestone Tyler, it's good to have you here  That's a lovely, iconic knife, and a very generous gift to whoever wins :) Not an entry for me please, I have my hands full as it is! :D

I'm not sure what my Knife of 2016 will be yet, but I'd say that my Abbeydale Jack and my new Arthur Wright Lambsfoot are definitely in the running...but then who knows what's around the corner! :D ;)

(Hmmm...first 'Database Error' notice of the day! :grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:)

So it is! Original post edited, entry withdrawn.

Hey TB, fantastic giveaway, but again not an entry from me however I'll play too;

I received my first farmers jack earlier this year (and a little late to the party) and have found it has seen a massive amount of pocket time due to its wonderfulness :)

Great utility knife, robust and sturdy, absurdly elegant and slips into my pocket very easily.

Great giveaway, TsarBomba! I've been tempted by the Case large stockman several times, but I don't have one yet, so I'm definitely in.

So far this year, this knife has seen more time in my pocket than any other. It's well on its way to being my "Knife of 2016," although there's still plenty of time left in the year, so you never know how things will shake out. :D

My case mini copperlock in blue bone. I always carry another blade, but the copper lock is always in the pocket too. It is my first traditional and only one so far. I'm saving up to get another case or a different maker.

Please enter my name in your GAW. I will say I was about to order a large Stockman (Case) to try one out..... maybe I will wait for results here first ;-) Thanks for thinking of others, and great on 1K posts. I have a ways to go, and a lot to learn. Ok, Now let's see if I can get a pic of the one I carry in here....... Knife of The Year so far, as it's the only Slippie I carry right now:

Please leave discussion of modern knives outside this forum. I have removed the picture.

From the thread title, I thought you were giving away a $1000 knife. hahaha That's a nice looking Case, I'm in. Here is a picture of my favorite, this is my go-to 95% of the time. The others that get pocket time are just for showing off, but this S&M sowbelly is for show and for work. It is definitely my knife for 2016, and the foreseeable years coming up.

Not an entry since I own the same knife (it's a nice one). But I wanted to thank you for the generous giveaway and congrats on the 1000 posts.

Thanks for the giveaway. I am definitely in, withe a hearty thank you. I love stockman, and especially bigger ones. I do not own a large stockman.

I had a medium case stockman in the same bone that I gave to my father inlaw.

My most pocketed knife is likely this TC Barlow.

Congrats on the milestone. This one is very cool, so I'm very in. Would love to make that knife an EDC with such a great blade combination.

One of my favs for when I think I may need some beef in the blades is my GEC 78, American Jack (shown on left). Very solid without going the extra weight and bulk of a full sized 5" Folding Hunter (shown on right).

But if going light, it's hard to beat last years CSC forum blade.

I also really want to try out a GEC #18 Beagle. Great blade combo in a Peanut sized package (or so it seems, haven't actually handled one yet).

Great GAW! Thanks for a chance at a great knife.

So... I took this pic earlier this year when the Randall was new to me and the Kabar was fresh out of the box. So far it has been my "go to" combination around the yard, on the hiking trail, and at the lake... light weight, plenty strong and tough, and darn fine lookin too...

Good luck to all, and thanks again!
