WINNER ANNOUNCED! That's a thousand with three zeroes?!? (Traditional knife GAW)

Thanks for the chance. I don't have a Case or a jigged bone knife so this would be a great start.

My most carried knife this year was my Victorinox Midnite Rogue followed by the Victorinox Tinker.
My third knife and generally most carried dedicated folder is a Spyderco or a Ganzo, but since this is the Traditional section I'll put in my most used traditional slippie: Colt Exotic Trapper.

Not an entry, I have a Case CV Stockman already and I've been the recipient of a few GAWs this year already but I'll post my choice and pic anyway.

The knife that's spent the most time in my hands or pockets has got to be the 2015 CSC Serpentine Jack forum knife.

Not an entry, thanks for the generosity! Hit the big 1 0 0 0 myself a while back too

A good opportunity to try that kind of stockman. I've been tempted for a a long time, but never decided! So count me in, please.
I have several knives of the year.
My Ancient never leaves me

he's always accompanied by my Forum knife

My choice for my knife of the year is still a toss up between the RR improved muskrat, which has surprised me in a number of ways to become my favorite carry knife, and an old Opinel No.8 that has been the object of a lot of futzing.

Pics to follow if I can master uploading from a phone.

I'm in! Awesome GAW, Tsar, especially for me as I've been thinking about a large stockman.

For me, Knife of the Year candidates are two: The first is my latest acquisition, a chestnut bone Peanut, and the second is my chestnut bone Sodbuster Jr. Why these two? Well, the 'nut has already proven itself as a most adequate little tool for just about anything I need to do with a knife. I can see it living in my pocket for quite some time.

The Soddie has wormed its way into my heart based on form factor, mostly. I have become very fond of its thinness. I've also found that it's just about as large a knife as I really want to tote around.

I have come to love Case's chestnut bone, which makes them both very appealing. Finally, I've at last come around to the idea of patina. I've experimented with benign rust before with my medium yella stockman and ended up polishing it off. But now I've let all three acquire the "weathered look," and this time I think it's for keeps.

So, a picture, yeah...

Thanks for the GAW opportunity!

This is far and away my "Knife of the first half of 2016". Could take the honors for the year, but there are a few nice ones coming down the pike!

The coping blade on this 85 is a little hellion of a slicer. Boxes, cardboard, food, and fingers have all felt the power of this little guy.

Been contemplating a large stockman for some time...have always liked the medium. In fact, a Case amber bone medium stockman was the first traditional I ever purchased. Thanks for the chance!

This isn't the prettiest knife I've acquired this year, but it finds itself in my pocket the most. The clip and pen combo is infinitely useful, it gets turned over and over as a worry stone, and the walk and talk is better than any knife I own...this one sings as it snaps into position! It's a knife that just hits all the senses, which makes it as fun to play with as it is to use.

Awesome giveaway, and great idea to give someone else the chance to dig the same knife that you love so much.

From the moment I opened the clip blade on this one it became my 2016 knife.
best of all it was given to me by a forum member.

Not an entry, because I don't have enough enthusiasm for a big square-bolstered Case stockman to deserve to win one.
But congrats on your post milestone, TB, and thanks for commemorating it with this generous GAW!:thumbup:
Good luck to all the entrants! :D
As long as I'm here, I can report that although I've acquired many knives this year of which I think the world, my current front-runner for Knife of 2016 (and I can't imagine how it can be overtaken by any other knife) is this humble little Rough Rider stockman, a gift from r8shell. If you're not sure why I'd think so highly of it, just ask yourself if there is another knife in the world (indeed, in the entire universe) exactly like this one. One-of-a-kind is ,by definition, rare and desirable! No one else has a knife exactly like this! (Of course, there IS the question of supply and demand: how many people besides me actually WANT a knife exactly like this?? :D)

Congrats on 1K, yes it is a landmark. Always enjoying to see your knives. Anyway, up till now it is a whittler year for me, though I see it changing now (I'll post photos of my new comers when I find time) Yet this LB whittler got into my pocket most of the time

I'm In! Thanks for doing this giveaway. My knife of the year so far is a Case Sodbuster Jr. Wearing Yellow Derlin covers and sporting a TruSharp stainless blade. The super thin hollow grind makes this baby a scalpel for sure, and the knife cuts for a lot longer than I expected it to after reading all the poopoo-ing of TruSharp on this forum. Best of all, I received this knife for free from someone who just doesn't like stainless as part of a trade deal (thanks huntnfishin), but even so, there's a Case Master Dealer set up at a local pharmacy here in Atlanta where I can score Sodbusters and Jr.s all day long for twenty bucks a pop.

Thanks for your interesting and discursive posts Tsar. Fine taste in knives too!

Not an entry though as I own The Big CASE in Amber, a wonderful knife for a GAW and I'd argue an essential in a good collection of Trads.

But how about KOTY? That might mean plural... :D:D I'd be nominating the Forum Knife I was very lucky to get a striking version from Barry in January. A couple of 'modest' Rough Riders, a Small Copperhead and Mini Barlow I'm very proud to have. A Tiny but meaningful Stag Barlow from Schatt, fine Ablett Pruner- English made but via Tasmania, a very nice 83 Purple Sage from the Exchange, but I'll include pic of these two as frontrunners: Lick Creek 38 in Ivory Bone and Renaud Aubry Laguiole in shadow Ebony. Poor shot but gives an idea.

Good luck to the entrants and the host.

Kershaw Emerson 6K EDC. I love the overall feel of this knife and the Emerson opener makes this liner lock poison in a SD situation. I know this firsthand. The Emerson 6k is one of the best folders for the price. Sorry for the bad picture . Please count me in, Thanks for the gesture and chance. :thumb up:

Only, that is NOT a Traditional knife  Nor are SD situations. I suggest you read the Forum Rules or look at post 15 in this thread... Maybe you can return with an appropriate knife to enter.

Tsar thank you for the opportunity I am in. Congrats on your 1000 (with three zeros posts :D). But more important thanks for your participation here on the Porch. You have shown yourself not only a great member but also very kind and generous. I for one am glad you found your way here. You sir are a very welcomed addition to our little internet family.

I bought this Farmer off of the exchange earlier this year and it has been in my pocket ever since. I guess this knife truly has become my go to for 2016 I just love the utility of it.

Not an entry(for obvious reasons;) ), but I'll play.
This one was runner up last year, but it has quickly moved up into my most carried knife this year. I've really got to see the knife start aging the way only a heavily carried bone knife can.
I really don't see how another knife could come in and take its place, but we shall see...

This has been a very interesting thread to read through. Thank you for all you contribute to this forum, Tsar!

Not an entry, but I still want to play.

My traditional knife of 2016 is definitely (so far) the 2015 Traditional Forum Serpentine Jack. It is the first traditional knife that I loved having on me so much that it became an EDC knife for me. It is a fantastic knife.

I hate to be unoriginal, and other members have posted their forum knives as well, but hey. It's a good knife.

No question about it for me it's my 2015 T.C. Barlow with Tan Jigged Bone! It took me a few months to track down a TC and I'm very pleased with it. Please enter me to the GAW and thank you for the opportunity. Ive wondered about the Stockman for awile now. It would be very cool to own one. :)
