This one is special to me. It's my old whittlin' knife. A Case Half Congress.

Show us a bit of your whittlin' work (or even an attempt at whittling), and you can be in for a chance to win this knife.

Can't recall if tang stamp is 1940-64 or 1965-1969 (will look later). Slabs are mismatched bone. The knife is 3 1/2" closed but is still very small having a sneaky tendency to slip out of your pocket. It's a miracle I never permanently lost this one. Found it often under the couch cushions.

And again, I only ask that if someday decide you no longer want it, that you not sell it or trade it but that you too give it away.

Just post a pic of your whittlin' or attempt at whittlin'. Here's a pic of a walnut stick I whittled while on transition leave when retiring from the Army.

Oh my... two beautiful works of art there. Not an entry, but congratulations on your quest to downsize. This one must be especially difficult.

Another great GAW! Sadly, I have not whittled anything since I was a kid and have no pictures of my attempt, otherwise I'd join in for this one. Good on you for doing all these GAWs.

amazing generosity! I whittled a pipe bowl once as a kid, no pictures sadly as those were the days before mobile phones! Not an entry, thanks!

leghog, you are the man! That is a cool knife and I would love a chance at that one. You guys inspired me to do some whittling a couple weeks ago. My granddaughter wanted the results, and she made off with it before I could take a picture (thus saving me the embarrassment here). If you choose to accept this entry, here is my only other current whittling picture, my attempt at a hair after a sharpening session ;) :

I couldn't pass this one up! I'm in.
I've admired the vintage Case knives for a while now, and the half congress is a pattern I have been determined to pick up. That is a beautiful example!
I don't whittle much, but I thoroughly enjoy it when I get latched onto a project.
I have done the majority of my whittling with the '15 forum knife.

Thanks for the chance! You have shown more than your share of generosity with this round of gaws.

leghog, thanks for offering an opportunity at another classic.:thumbup:
I'm in, please.
I'm sort of in shock and awe each time I see the photo of that walking stick you crafted! Man, that is fantastic work!
I'll include a photo of some attempts I've made at whittling. I hope to eventually get more time to do it, because I enjoy it even if I'm not very skilled/talented.

Good luck to all the entrants! :D

I am in on this beauty, though I am surprised you are parting with it. The half congress was my first traditional (not counting SAK) and one of my first knives. It came to me well used, and is still probably my favorite pattern.

Yes, a whittled hair or an attempt counts. Media doesn't matter, just that you posted a pic of an attempt at whittlin', so you are in.

I just pulled the knife out of the cigar box. It's 3" (not 3 1/2" like I posted) and verified the tang stamp is from 1960-1964.

Well I am certainly in for this one too Leghog. That is a nice looking knife, and I do love whittling even if I do not do nearly as much of it as I would like. Here is a spoon I made a year and a half ago. If I win I'll be sure to make something new.

I'm not a great whittler. I've made a few wooden swords for my boys.

I whittled a pick handle down to fit a round socket pole axe head. It was a large heavy slip fit pick handle. Took me hours and hours to whittle down to a perfect fit. (I've done it twice now, and broken both throwing the ax I used the handles on).

Now, it is on the original 6 foot plus handle.

Here is something I whittled for my boy.... A video game character from Minecraft.....

This is what it looked like after the boy painted it....

I am in for sure. I have been looking for a half congress for a while.

I did not whittle this, but my daughter did for me. I don't have any pics of stuff I've done. This fork has a special place in my heart, I keep it in my desk drawer. My daughter whittled it for me after I told her a story of when I was growing up, while sitting around the camp fire. She surprised me with it when we got home from our fishing trip.

That's a beautiful knife and im hoping that maybe it comes with some of your talent ;)

Here's a picture of the magic wand I carved for my son before I added the epoxy and glow powder.

Funny story about what my crew calls "the cudgel". A friend was having a bonfire in high school and his dad just planted 3 small trees, saplings, forget the type, but we're $250 each. We didn't have a clue. Another guy snapped it off at the base and I carved the end for a hot dog stick and this thicker part I removed the bark to replicate a Billy club.
