That Case XX Soddy would replace the one I lost to the Cook County Sheriff 35 years ago!
Actually. it was a full size Sod Buster . but the Jr. makes more sense to me now. the CV steel is fantastic for a production knife

Not an entry, but a commendation for your generosity Duane.

Both 'tweaks' look great. I still can't believe how perfect that dog chew was!

Thanks for chance, Duane :) Not an entry for me, though. I´ve almost been the reciever of your generosity, so that I want some other members to get the chance on that beautiful Puukko or that nicely modded Soddie.

I´d like to thank you for your generosity and your contribution to the forums and the great people around here. Makes me proud being part of the crowd of real gentlemen in this place of the world :)

Im in on the Dog Chew!
There is a soft spot in my heart for Puukkos. My first came to me in Spain as a young boy, about half a century ago. It was lost in a robbery less than 10 years ago, possibly my most remembered knife ever.
If I win, it will go camping with me in Big Sur, whence I promise to post a pic.

I hope Fes wins it though :-), it just fits his kit.

Beautiful work! Thanks for linking to its build thread.

Thank you so much one and all for your entries! This is going much better than I had even hoped it would. This place has given me so much in the past couple years, friendships made, info garnered, salivations over beautiful knives posted, empty time filled...you all are what makes this place such a wonderful place to hang out!

My 'Chef's Special' - You of course being the chef Duane! :)
Thanks Jack, always nice to see that wee one in your pics ;)

I'd take it hiking, and maybe fishing, if I could get over the idea of getting fish guts on that pretty handle:)

I would think actually that this might be good for the handle ;) :)

Great knives - I am in! Either of them would be great to whittle away some time sitting by this waterfall in Ricketts Glen.
Great photo:)

FLYER...Im in on the puuko thank you sir....i enjoyed the build, and a wonderful end result !...I would like it purely for aesthetical reasons...it would look cool on my belt .........................FES

Wow FES! That certainly is a very cool setup  I'm guessing this is your smoke pole setup? The antler tip looks like a powder measure...
Keep your powder dry brother!

The old Schrade gets carried to places like this and that's where the Puuko would go.

Thanks for this great photo pinnah! This shot reminds me so much of the places I used to go to fish up in NH when I still lived there...

I must admit I'm quite happy with my Farm&Field sodbuster, but that pukko looks beautiful and I've been meaning to try one. I'm in!

Thanks for your generosity Duane, you're certainly a vital part of this community. I would love a chance at the Puukko, and would be honored to carry something you have customized. Thanks for the chance!

I'm in for the puukko!

Here is my Sod Buster. Carried it all the way through high school and college and beyond.

I'd love a chance at that "old dog chew" puuko. Beautiful knife. Just checked out the WIP thread as you hand worked the thing. Great job!

I'd be honored to carry that knife into the woods when I go hiking with my Boyscouts.

HoosierQ, I really dig your soddie. Nothing like honest use to add charm to a knife.

From the SI interview with Bob Loveless
In fact, if there is any apologizing to be done, Loveless figures that it is owed to him by customers who refuse to treat his work as something of utility, who put his knives in cases and "fondle and drool over them."
"Ninety percent of my knives aren't used!" he exclaims. "And, damn it, they should be out working. That's why I make them. When some old cowboy or guide comes back to me with a knife that's worn down to a nub and he says, 'That thing fit my hand better than any knife I'd ever had, and it worked longer, too,' that's fame. That's what I'm on earth for. A knife is a tool, and if we don't treat our tools with a certain familiar contempt, we lose perspective."

That's a fantastic quote, I should remember that whenever I'm scared of abusing mine by learning to care for them properly. It took me nearly a week to work up the courage to take my Patch Knife to the stone, because I'd wanted to keep it as close to new as possible. However, the thing wasn't cutting, and needed some TLC.

I would love that puuko, I would use it during my outdoor adventures and going squirrel hunting next year.
Thanks for the chance.

I'm in for the puuko.
Scandinavian blades always take my breath away.
I also want to move to any Scandinavian country some day.

I'm in on both. I'm new to the knife world and would love to class up my growing collection with the Puuko. I could get alot of work done in the yard with the Sodbuster as well. What a generous GAW! Thanks for the opportunity!
