I agree, why does there need to be the possibilty of an RAT award for people to get out there and push themselves? Just go do it, and post a ton of pics.
Same to be for everyone asking for changes to the rules..??? Anything aside from the org. rules is not the same contest. NOT TRYING TO HURT ANYONES FEELINGS, SO DONT GET ALL TITTYBABY ABOUT IT.
This is all jmo on the above, If you search back to the org. thread i was one of the org. three to jump on figuring this thing out when RAT had to cover their poopers. I was also one of the first to get out there and do it with the rules jeff had stated, altoids tin rat knife and everyday clothing, nothing else...3days 2nights hellyea. The only exception to the rules was CRR pipe and wackytobackie, and one other members meds.

I am going to agree with this as well. I truly had no idea how much of a challenge it could be until I tried it. Contest or not, everyone that talks about using a PSK in the bush as a last ditch survival tool should have experience actually using it. Period.

Crowdog got this started quite a while ago, and he has been waiting to see who else was going to join in on it. For me, it is pretty simple. I reschedule my weekend off to do the challenge before the time ran out, meaning now I have to work the holiday weekend.

Practice makes prefect, and it really is a challenge more then you realize. Once your out there and you reach for that item you always have in the woods, and it isn't there... you really do start the creative thoughts going to think outside the box.

I am going to go again in a week or so, but my tin it going to have some serious changes too it.

EDIT: Was there a winner? I know MrShotty and TTD have been busy, just wondering where it's at....

We havent picked a winner just yet. I didn't drop the ball, just letting it roll around on the field for a few till we get caught up a bit with other stuff.

We didn't forget about you guys, just going to be a tough one to judge.;)

So im just sitting here pacing back through this thread, forelongingly rereading posts and the stories when i see the prizes offered up for this comp. The RATcomp.kit is the shit no misunderstanding that, but as for the second place prize i was kinda just considering the winning of that prize..(not that i have doubts and am settling for sec..or third..when i do something i give it my best, no less. and i hope my best is worthy of first. But that is to be judged)
but that e&e kit is just as outstanding as the compkit imo. I previously thought the eekit was just a little brother to the compkit but that is not the case at all. "i should have read with more attention to detail" It is not even from the same parents, it is something completely diffrent than the compkit with different intentions in mind. So to place it as a sec place prize is a crazy deal for sec place winner. seriously who ever walks away from this comp. first or second is taking home some very sweet prizes.. Thank you RAT Forum for putting those items up, you guys RAT /RATPACK are the kittys snazels!
btw, was'nt someone quick to say in the orignal post they would offer up a knife as a prize as well? If i remember right it was a dealer or something not RAT. I dont know to be honest.

Hey, no problems. I was just thinking about the fore mentioned is all. Not an attempt at gental nudging/hinting toward the mods and when this would get finished. I know you guys are normally quite punctual about things around here...jeez it took you like 4.3 secs to issue the first warning for inappropriate language on me. lol:D

I don't envy the judges at all, ya'll had a tough decision to make.
Thanks to RAT and the mods for doing this and congrats to MrCoffee and Crowdog.

I know I learned alot and plan on spending more time using my kit and items in it (which just increased a whole lot) Thanks again.
