Winter Kith, 2017/2018

Just a reminder everyone, about two weeks left. Next weekend I’ll post a new thread for completed entries. I’m hoping to make mine ready for handle glue up tonight. If that one doesn’t work, I’ve got two more at about the same stage of completion. Looking forward to my shop day today!
 
Well, I just finished my entry, what I call the large hunter, it's a drop point hunter in D-2 with Acacia wood scales--these scales were harder than any Acacia I've fooled with before, but they buffed up really well and they should be really durable handles for this knife. I didn't use any finish except carnuba wax and the buffer! I am still working on my sheath making skill-set, most of my for sale knives I have the sheaths made for me :rolleyes: I hope the receiver likes this style knife and it gets some use, and doesn't throw up over the self made sheath ;)

The balance on my offering is more weight aft than usual. I always try to challenge myself on these things, and I have never done a false edge before. I think that weight removed and the G-10 scales shifted this models standard balance. Is anyone averse to this? It's more of a fighter than a camp chopper, so I'm inclined to say the balance is fine, just a bit different than what I'm used to. Input appreciated.

All the knives are coming out really nice. Great work fellas. Too bad I am not able to participate this time around maybe the next one....
 
Hello all. I'm thinking about entering this year with this little guy. Not sure if this is a paring knife (what it originally was going to be) or a small EDC. I'm not sure if I will be able to finish a sheath for it in time however. I do have a refidgerator magnet display hanger for it though....
