Winter kith?

I'll do up a list tomorrow of who is in. People can join up to the last day, as long as they have a knife ready for the due date. On the due date, I'll get everyone's contact info for the shipping. You can show progress pics, or wait to the last day. Everyone enjoy, and have fun.

Hopefully I can get something done!

I would love to join in. Probably do a hidden tang hunter. Don't matter to me what I recieve.

I'm nowhere near as experienced as most on here, but I'll try to get one made over break. If not, oh well.

So I've only fully completed two successful knives. Think I'm qualified enough or no?

Are you happy with how they turned out, and would they be good users for someone? If you are confident, then yes, you are in.

I'm in

Hey, cdrew, I just noticed this is your first post. Please fill out your profile, and also tell us a bit about you and the knives you make.

Has there ever been an "advanced maker" KITH. I notice most people signing up are very new to this, nothing wrong with that at all. I personally would be interested in a more advanced KITH, you know Damascus steel kind of stuff.

Yes I believe so.

And actually now the number is 3 complete successful knives.

I did that a couple years ago and people were really upset with the idea. I split the kith into two categories, that year, simple knives, and more advanced. This year is one category. (Clarifying as I got a message expressing confusion.)

I sent you a pm.

While I'm sympathetic to JT's idea. I have always thought the purpose of a KITH is to have fun, see what other folks are doing, educate the new guys. THAT SAID. I didn't even consider joining last year and I had maybe 8 knives under my belt at the time. My feeling is a basic knife entry is fine, but if you are not spot on with heat treat, geometry, and basic handle construction, maybe think twice. I would not be in the least upset to receive a very simple entry, but I think any entry should be a solid offering, that is usable and safe regardless of the level of expertise. Just my two cents of course.
