WIP - Burt Foster/David Broadwell laminated subhilt

I hope I am not expected to continue coming up with threads that "unify the opinions of Roger Pinnock and Kevin Jones" :p

that might be too much expectation for one man - hehe!

Yep Bill, might want to enlist some help for that project. ;) :D :D

But seriously, the first thing Roger and I did at Blade upon catching one another's eye was to shack hands.
I like to think our differences of opinions have caused some to look at things from all sides.

Roger and I have gotten along quite well when working on projects. Actually agreeing most of the time. :)

STeven, I love you man, but I disagree wildly with you on this one. While the classic Big Bear design has its pluses, saying that all diverging subhilt designs are inferior is like saying any any car that doesn't look like the Model T is inferior.

Some folks like a Ferrari. Others prefer a Porsche. Some are satisfied with the K-car, and still others spend their lives searching for that perfect Model T. There are beautiful and horrible examples of each marque in then world.

In my humble, inexperienced, newbie point of view, Broadwell designs have a lot more natural flow than the standard Loveless design. I have never handled either so I'm sure that discounts my opinion significantly--however by looks alone I feel the Broadwell "integral subhilt" wins hands down.

OK

Now that it's the New Year.....here are some more pics

First set here are the koa pieces I sent to David, which some some possible "handle sites" laid out, and then the final selection after David and Burt talked.

Yes, I AM a koa fanatic - fortunately I have some connections in Hawaii!

Roger

hehe, that's not the half of it !

Now, if, say, you were looking to make another "Roger P" special knife, I might be persuaded to part with some of it :D

Bill

Hey Nick

Well, I guess I better get to polishing my powers of persuasion. ;)

Thanks Bill.

Roger

Bill, great work that is amazing, you got some great flow mojo, very cool to see a different sub hilt.

Sam,

I really can't take any credit - I made some vague suggestions about what I like and Burt and David took it from there!

I DID contribute the wood :p

I'm certainly liking the results thus far, of course:D

Kudos to Burt and David as well, that is a very tricky undertaking with the construction of that style!

I have been derelict in my duty - I have received quite a few more pics, but have been so busy I haven't posted them;)

anyway, here are fotos of the continuing work on the hilts/handle

first one is with rough handle in place, next 2 are more shaping of the hilt
