Thanks, Mike! That means a lot coming from you. I do admire your work. I know it's a random sort of hamon, but that's one of the things I like. Someday I may try harder to make certain patterns within the hamon, but I hope I never go too far and break the spirit of the hamon (to sound all metaphysical ). For now, I kind of like that each blade has its own personality. With the clay that I put on, the heat I applied, and the knife I was working with, this is what the steel wanted to make of itself, and I am fine with it. This one, and probably my next several will be keepers for me. It's about time I built up a collection of my own work to pass down to my son some day.
Thats turning out really nice. Great job with the hamon. W2 is alot of fun to work with when doing that. Good simple technique for a quick etch and polish.
