WIP - Kyle Hanson EDC Fighter - Knife Complete!

Looks great man, that tapered tang is a thing of beauty. Impossibly thin indeed!

Thanks! I'm really disappointed in the picture, though. The blurriness really makes it look a lot thicker than it really is. I'll have to get a better one tomorrow.

Loving that Damascus. Looks like a spring brook meandering to the river. This is going to be a super piece.

I LOVE this knife
I like that the blade got a straight edge instead of the more popular recurve...works very well on this model.

Great piece

A super useful well done piece so far

How will it be sheathed ?

Thanks Joe! Figured you'd like this one.

Not sure if he knows it yet, but "Pappy" Long will be doing the leather on this one. All black.

Hey all!

Kyle has been very busy the last couple days and he asked me to post up the completed pictures.

It gets sent out tomorrow for its black suit. Stay tuned...

Nice knife Kyle, Congrats to new owner. Thanks for the WIP. I for one, love seeing how things come together.

This one is probably my favorite Kyle Hanson knife yet.

Big words from the big guy! I agree Don, but I may be a little biased ;)

Can't believe how thin he got the tang. He sure wasn't kidding when he said the blurry pic made it look thicker!

I'm glad this project challenged him and I'm blown away with the result. When I was going through the idea for this in my head, this is exactly how I hoped it would materialize. Actually, it's way better. That damascus is just stunning and that's got to be some of the most well figured bog oak I've seen yet. You can't go wrong with combining top shelf materials with a naturally talented knifemaker.

I look forward to seeing many more wonderful pieces from Kyle. You've taught him well, my friend!

That's a knife I want to hold. I'm starting to really like this kind of style. Those pictures are not perfectly head on. I bet the raised clip area shows a more aggressive profile.

Though it doesn't need to be defined, would you consider it a fighter, utility or hunter?

I can't wait to have it in hand. Looks like it melts into your grip.

I'll definitely take some more pics when I get it to show all of the details.

I think it has touches of all three styles, but the overall direction for the project was a mini bowie/fighter profile. While its probably too small to be considered a true "fighter", I think Kyle did an amazing job with the look and I sure wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of it.

This will be carried and used for utility work, so I guess I haven't answered your question very well. :p

There are utility hunters and utility fighters....they are defined by the intent of the maker and the use of the wielder. Usually, a utility fighter has a guard of some sort.

I personally would like this model with a thong hole, but some like them and some don't.

Great looking knife, well done all around....specifically like the damascus and the cleanly tapered tang.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson
