Wish GEC would make these patterns....

How about a Great Eastern #735113ECL in walnut? Ie a 440c version of these

I would like the spearpoint, long-bolster, single blade 15, (and a wharnie 55) in red stag. I'd settle for Cocobolo too.

Basically this knife, (bottom one):

What would you like to see?

A Northfield UN-X-LD version of the Barlow with long-pull single spear. And in single spey also. In two blade models make the secondary a coping blade.

Also would like to see Blood Red jigged bone on more models in general!

Sowbelly pattern with ebony scales and 440C (or D2) blades.

My GEC wish knife has stayed the same for at least a couple of years now -but I don't expect to stop waiting. GECs refusal to offer variety in stainless has pretty much turned my GEC wish knife into my Queen Cutlery wish knife. Bring it onnn, Queen Cutlery! :D

I'd be down for a scout pattern with a second blade instead of the can opener. Something in wood and brass would be nice.

Of the many fine knives GEC has made, the Courthouse Whittler (IMHO) is one of the finest.

CourthouseWhittler005_zpsv3mofiau.jpg

According to the 2011 GEC production totals, 169 Tidioute knives and 258 Northfield knives were made... and evidently, no GEC 440C stainless steel Courthouse Whittlers were made.

For those that missed out on the 2011 runs, finding a Courthouse Whittler is, to put it mildly, a challenge. While understanding that part of the mystique of GEC knives is the low production numbers of any one model, I hope there's room to produce another run.

One way to maintain a degree of exclusivity is to use different handle materials than used in 2011. For example, on the Northfield versions the possibilities in natural handle materials are (but not limited to):

- Cocobolo
- Ebony
- African Blackwood
- Rosewood
- Elephant Ivory
- Natural Stag
- American Elk
- Smooth Ivory Bone
- Smooth Yellow Bone
- Autumn Gold Jigged Bone
- Antique Yellow Jigged Bone
- Antique Amber Jigged Bone
- Blood Red Jigged Bone

That's just Northfields. Other possibilities with Tidioute as well. Then, there's the option of including some GEC 440C stainless steel Courthouse Whittlers.

I've read that Bill Howard checks out these GEC threads when he has a little time to spare. So Mr. Howard, if you're reading I hope you will consider another run of Courthouse Whittlers in the not too distant future :)

I've also been thinking about the camp/utility/scout knife that others have proposed and just wanted to throw this photo up as a frame of reference for size.

Most camp/utility/scout knives I've handled are about 3 3/4 inches. I think one built on the 53/54 frames would be too big/too heavy. If we're limited to existing frames, I think the 68 frame may be the way to go.

This has the old-style can opener (WWII-era and before), bottle opener, awl, and spear point blade. [please excuse the photo quality... I was running out of good light)

camputility_zps6072c32c.jpg

I think as a minimum, a camp/utility/scout knife should have a master blade, bottle opener/screwdriver and can opener. If an awl (or as an option, a pen blade) is doable, all the better, IMHO.

And could we have at least one variant be in something as close to Rogers bone as possible? :)

I'd be all over a scout knife like the Boy Scout one I had in the 80s. A can opener is a must and the awl gets used a lot.

Well said, Monk. I've two of the #62s, a NF in Burnt Stag, and a Tidioute in Ebony. Wish I'd bought a few more when I had the chance, best pattern since the #53 cuban stockman, imho.

Thanks Russell. I figure it doesn't hurt to ask :)

Just to second the greatness of this design. This is the knife that has turned me onto GEC. Best knife IMHO, pocket friendly, classy, great whittler, blade disappear in handle. Would be nice to see with rat tail bolsters.

My vote still goes to the plier knife.

IMAG0092.jpg

I would love to see GEC do something like this but not pliers rather clippers, I would call it the "clipperton". A nail clipper in a pemberton 06 frame. I've been trying to draft the design, maybe the two clips built in a split back design...when I get it figured out I'll post it. However, I like this idea.

Beautiful knife! I've been on the hunt for a green jigged bone Northfield #62 for well over a year now with zero luck. It is indeed a difficult knife to locate. Great find, and thanks for sharing!
