Wish GEC would make these patterns....

I'd love to see a coffin jack.

I'd settle for another run of 66 northfield serpentine jacks.

I'd like to see the swayback and the copperhead. They make the fruitport for KSF; why not get that unless the blade slot is an issue for you?

But, I can't keep up now. Much less if they start making all these wish list items!

Heh heh heh...... but I think they read the forums. The other day they had the Babylon Hill Specials pictured with playing cards. This was pretty shortly after that thread about playing cards and knives was going. Coincidence? :D

Yes it was.

I've considered getting a fruitport, but I'd love to see GEC offer it in a variety of handle variations. Ebony would be sweet. Also, it's a little nitpicky, but I don't really like the pin arrangement on the fruitport.

I would love to see a few things but dont think my wallet could handle it. I really would love to see the coping blade secondary trend continue but lets see them with some clip points or drop points for mains. More random bone jigging and more Northfields with nail nicks instead of long pulls.

For a unique pattern I am waiting for a Wharncliffe Stockman. Using the new muskrat frame they could put a thin long wharnie on it(think executive whittler) that would ride low and out of the way. Couple it with a low riding coping with the pull on the mark side(think cuban stockman) and a deep bellied drop point(the one's from the #25's comes to mind). Think that would be my ultimate stockman for me. I could go on for awhile with this topic  :)

While we're at it, I would love to see more Saddle Trappers. Great frame, closed length and blade combo, imo.

The long pulls are what make the northfields appealing to me. It's the lined and pinched bolsters i wish they would refrain from, atleast on a few northfield runs.

I also wish they used more shield variety.

Im with ya on the shields as well. I also love the way long pulls look, I am just in a nail nick kind of mood. GEC is really good about surprising us and changing things up. Everyone was wanting more ebony in the Northfield line, I think the new Black wood is a good compromise. They wont make us all happy with any release. Half like long pulls, end caps and no shield while others enjoy only single bladed knives. We are a bunch of design skeptics that need large focus groups to narrow down our private reserves.

As much as I love GEC's #25s (and oh, I do), I'd like to see a bigger brother to the "Little Jack," the same proportions only at 3 1/4, 3 3/8".

Quoting myself instead of repeating myself. That works, right?

But this time, I'm back with pictures of the general idea. Yes, the Boys Knives are close (and: very fine), but the stouter proportions of these appeal to me also.

Of course, if Case would simply make these again, with CV blades, that would also do. ;)

If you are going to wish for stainless, why not good stainless like 154CM or ATS-34 or S30V etc. 440C is ho-hum stuff.

Because GEC already uses 440C, albeit sparingly.
It is not reasonable to expect them to completely change their processing to use completely new alloys. It is within reason to hope that they will expand their 440C offerings.

When wishing for GEC knives you must remember their most often used design feature: Traditional!

+1 on this.

I am new to traditionals but I have never seen any other examples of:

Congress whittler with a wharnie main blade.
Their sleevboard that has a wharnie on one side and coping on the other.
The 53 stockman. I have never seen an old example that has the exact same features
Anything like the 79 workhorse whittler
Never seen anything in delrin with a sheepsfoot main and pen second

Now I know these may well have been made before but I have not come across any. How traditional is something that was only made once or twice back in the day? Why cant they make new things that look old? I guess I just look at "traditional" differently

I never said that every knife they make is an exact copy of an old knife! Sheesh!
They do make new things that look old.Look at your list.

I was just stating stating an idea. Not trying to start an argument. Sorry to post.

Bob, I wasnt trying to argue and please dont feel sorry to post. I get tired of putting smilies in all my posts but I guess my tone does not come off right without them. I really just hate typing and am short with how I write. My apologies for coming off the wrong way, was not my intention in the least.

When you made that statement(coming from a dealer) I was just a bit confused when I conjure up images of the mentioned knives. I was really hoping you could prove me wrong and I would learn something I guess. Lesson learned regardless.

I don't mind the grooved bolsters, but I'd own a lot more Northfields (only own one - a 61) if they didn't pinch all the danged bolsters.

Was in need of a Yachting/rigging knife today. How about something like the fish knife Except with a Sheepsfoot and a Marlin Spike?
