Wish you like a knife or brand but can't

Does anyone else want to like a particular brand but just don't?

I live somewhat near Spyderco (Golden CO) and go there quite often for sharpening gear and to look at knives. And walked in there multiple times the last 6 months with a wad of cash burning a hole in my pocket, but couldn't find anything I wanted to spend money on. Every time I picked one up I would compare to my benchmade's and couldn't do it. I'm sure that there is someone in Oregon that whishes they lived near Spyderco but not me.

What do you wish you liked?

That's why the free market is so wonderful!
Don't like it? You don't have to buy it. Both companies make some fine knives. Different strokes for different folks!

I wish I felt the same about my pm2 as many do, it's an ok knife but I tend to find myself using my endura 4 ffg much more.

Haha I agree.

I wear slacks to work daily, not sure if that is considered 'hipster'...

I wish I could like Spyderco's Tenacious, but its lock is truly weak. Everything else about the knife is amazing. I only wish they would use a compression lock instead.

I wish I could like the ESEE Izula, but its handle is way too short for me. And uncomfortable.

That's about it for me.

Spyder blasphemy! You must leave the state at once or be forced to carry nothing but hole-y blades forever after. Seriously, with the number of brands available there's no reason to wish you liked one you don't. That just doesn't make sense. Welcome to the forum but pardon me for saying you sound like you just got washed out from under one of those bridges up Big Thompson Canyon.

So work a trade with ol' Seth up above. His PM2 has a compression lock.

i guess hipsters don't like zt. :p

Hipsters carry all sorts of knives, including ZTs.

I've never cared much for Strider [lockup/marketing], Emerson [wave], SOG [assist], Microtech [design], and Protech [design], personally. Too tacticool and various design quirks [see brackets] with each. Not bad knives though!

Medford Knives, I just don't really feel anything when I see them. I know they are probably super tough, but the aesthetics and ergonomics don't work for me.

That explains it, slacks are tough too. You are in luck, the 0770 is on the way soon.

I'm up for that. I wonder what else I could include with the Tenacious (it's the blue G10 sprint run) to make it an equal trade...hmm...

Seth, if you're reading this, send me a PM if you've got any ideas.

Yep. :D I prefer spyderco to benchmade but the one I really want to like but can't is ZT. The blade shapes are too fat, recurves, and thumb studs. Just don't care for any of that.

Hmmmm.....first post and one that could end up being a s***storm....

Not trying to start a "sh:$ storm" I am not anti Spydeco I have owned before and love that they are good quality and cheap. I really wish I liked them since they are so close to me but then again if I lived near Benchmade I would be broke. So maybe it is a good thing.

I wish I liked other Spydercos as well. I have an Endura 4, and I like it, but the asthetics of most other Spydercos turns me off. I like the look of the pm2, but I have an idealogical prejudice against liner locks in any form.

There are a few brands I can't bring myself to love. ZT, most of their designs just don't do it for me. Cold Steel and Busse are some others.

The compression lock is entirely different from a liner lock. The only similarly is the way you release it.
