Wish you like a knife or brand but can't

I wish I had liked my CQC7b. A great iconic knife that I just could not warm up to. Every other Emerson I have handled has fit like a glove while the 7 felt like a square in comparison.

I wish I could like Spyderco's Tenacious, but its lock is truly weak. Everything else about the knife is amazing. I only wish they would use a compression lock instead.

I wish I could like the ESEE Izula, but its handle is way too short for me. And uncomfortable.

That's about it for me.

What's wrong with Spyderco's liner lock?

Eta: never mind, I see that you like to perform spine whacks.

Emerson and Al Mar. Love their designs, but for one reason or another have never been able to pull the trigger on one. I've handled a pair of CQC-7s but really wasn't all that impressed, although the F&F was pretty good. I came close to getting a Horseman, but I snagged a Meyerco Terzuola CQB-1 fixed blade for about the same price.

Yup, that's pretty much it...although rather than a "whack" it fails at a firm "tap". Makes me cringe when I hear Spyderco use the terms "proven" and "liner lock" in the same sentence...I'll still buy plenty of Spydercos, but no more liner locks for me.

I wish I liked other Spydercos as well. I have an Endura 4, and I like it, but the asthetics of most other Spydercos turns me off. I like the look of the pm2, but I have an idealogical prejudice against liner locks in any form.

the compression lock is not even remotely comparable to a liner lock... thats like not buying a framelock because you don't like backlocks...

I live just a few hours from Benchmade and just can't warm up to them. They are great knives and i own a couple but I never carry them. I do love my Spyderco's though so I guess I could be the guy in Oregon you were talking about OP. :)

Spyderco has bunches of stuff but i really dont like the way they look. Busse because of the price honestly. I know its not extreme priced or anything but...... i dont know, maybe if i could handle one or something my mind would change

I have the same problem. A couple times a year I go through the whole spyderco catalog wanting to find something I like. They truly do make great knives. It's just an aesthetics thing though, if you don't like that style they have, you don't like any of them. I have 2 spydercos, a sage 2 and a domino (similar design, apparently the only spyderco design I like), and they are awesome quality and performance, that's why I keep trying to find some more I like, but I can't ever seem to find one that does it for me. So I find myself wanting to like them because of their material choices and quality, but I just can't seem to do it because none of their designs have the look I'm after. On the flip side, I have like 30 benchmades, I guess that's a similar thing. I like their style, so I like almost all their knives.

I wish I could like Gerber, 'cause then I'd have a lot more money in my pocket...

Yep. :D I prefer spyderco to benchmade but the one I really want to like but can't is ZT. The blade shapes are too fat, recurves, and thumb studs. Just don't care for any of that.

This.

Tastes can evolve (or devolve) too. For years I didn't like Spydercos because of the hump, but now it's probably my favorite knife company. I've been happy with every Spyderco I've ever owned.
