Woe is me- Happy Ending!

So I began the day carrying a vintage Case heavy jack but will end it carrying this-

My 78 was "located" by my eight year old daughter who apparently found it under her bed...a place I looked several times. "It was just sitting there," she proclaims. Well, regardless of the dubious nature of her discovery, I am just happy to have it back in pocket. It's a Good Friday indeed!

I'd like to thank everyone for the kind thoughts, good stories, and easing my pain. That's why I love The Porch! And a special shout out to @paulhilborn for the incredibly generous offer. Keep that new knife for a future poor soul with a mischievous child :)
Glad you found her! How did you achieve that beautiful patina?

I'm on cloud nine as well. This one is certainly my fave. Everything a jack knife should be. As for the patina, it's all honest and just daily stuff...Lots of fruit and acidic veggies...A fair bit of red meat lended the gold and purple. Opening mail didn't add much.

This is great reading- again Paul Hilborn I think that was such a nice and very generous offer my friend- thank you for what you do around here.

Glad it turned up. I've lost a few traditionals, including a very nice custom J. Oeser, but so far they have turned back up (most recently I lost my only TC Barlow for a while).........

Now, if I could just figure out where I put my Spyderco Delica.......it's been missing for 2 years now......???

Lime Spider
1 large glass of lime pop or lemonade- icy cold
1 large dollop of vanilla ice cream
Allow to sink and go all melty.
Insert straws.
Drink.
You will see spiderwebs forming as the liquid is diminished.
Warning: rapid consumption may cause headache.

Oh
After some extensive research my team has informed me you might know it more commonly as Root Beer Float or similar(to an Australian that sounds more like a great day out on the water).
Scottish people would likely favour orange ,"sodapop" .
It also acts as a truth serum on kids motivating them to tell at least 85% truth.
Obviously that does not include the 15% that involves them as culpable in any way or guilty of any wrongdoing.

Fantastic ending! I am glad to hear that it turned out this way.
Mischievous or not, now your knifes history has your daughter tied in, which is always a nice touch.

Glad to hear you found it as that would drive me nuts! I've torn the house and garage apart before looking for something, only to have it appear in the most obvious of places. In the meantime believing I was going nuts. My daughters would have sympathy for me but would also get a good laugh when I've found it.

Nice ! That spinning wheel in the back of your brain can take a rest :D I know when I " misplace ' any thing it drives me nuts.
Depending on your Daughters age you might want to cultivate any interest she has in Knives -

Got me thinking about an EO on my # 78 .. any tips ? I'm thinking dremel tool - but hate to mess it up
