Aloha ALL,

Started this thread elsewhere...but I wonder why the HYPER and M-TYPE are flying below the radar? They are GREAT knives, and with that Ti-Coat and G10 handle...price point...I wonder what gives?

Perhaps this recent article will help them, but...

Any HYPER or M-TYPE owners out there with some feedback on your knives?

God bless and mahalo much everyone!

I would suggest that their appearance doesn't suggest the ergonomics they actually possess, not to mention the typical knife-user's aversion to recurve blades have something to do with the matter.

Personally, I still prefer the smaller blades, so I don't carry my M-Type as often. But for a decent-sized, sturdy working blade with a lot of blade for the handle size, it works very well.
Will be getting a Hyper PE in the next week or so, so we'll see :D.

Guten Morgen Chad,
we sell these pretty good.
Maybe, you can shoot me a mail... btw, you still owe me a mail...

Hope to hear from you back Bro!

I bought a Hyper about a month or so a go and I have been very happy with it. An outstanding well made and designed knife and very reasonable price. Boker's China contractor has done a very good job on making this knife. An it has A handle made from G10 and blade of 440C and good edge geometry grind. This helps the Hyper cut and not bind or skip over what is being cut. The Hyper is a great EDC knife because of it's size and the width makes it very secure and comfortable in the hand. I like mine very much. I also have a Subclaw, Wharncom, and a Trance. But I carry the Hyper most of the time with the Subclaw. Take care Chad.

I'm happy with my Hyper

Concidering the pricepoint they go for what's not to like:

440C blade steel Titanium Nitride coating which is extremily tuff and slick. Adds against cutting resistence on nasty materials and adds for rust preservation.

Bronze washers G10 handle. Solid framelock.

High flat ground;

Much cuttingforce in a compact package.
Inobtrousive in pocket lowrider style.
Comfortable handle.

They're probably flying through the radar, but in stealth mode, hehe!

I like how it rides low and the light weight...no regrets!

As one that likes his knives light and compact, I find the appearance and looks too bulky on these knives. While it might not be heavy at all, it seems that there is way too much metal on the blade. Maybe bit too straight-forward designs and with that recurve they're just not my cup of tea.

Sorry to bash the designs Chad, I bet they are really good quality knives! But not for me.

I love my PE M-Type and have said so here in the past, so I KNOW you aren't talking about me, Chad. :D :p I want to pick up a black CE as well, but I've been waiting to make further CLB purchases from your wife's eBay store. Nothing in stock for a while. Will she be restocking in the near future?

With all the hype behind the wonder metals being used lately it seems that 440C has a bit of a stigma attached to it. Add to this the fact that the Chinese are not known for their heat treating and it can make some a bit nervous about the blade steel I think. That said, I have had knives with both qualities that performed (and still do for that matter) beautifully.

Just a guess anyhow. I can say that at least one more will will be flying off the shelf and in to my pocket and it is the design that is responsible for that.

I don't know...the Hyper is a real nice knife if you ask me...I don't get the I don't like the recurve attitude...for SD my research and testing says... other than Wharncliffe designs nothing cuts better, deeper and longer than a good recurve. For chores any blade design will do but for SD...that's a whole other story...Doc:D

Hope to finally get my M-Type early next year (crosses fingers. . . ).

I could be wrong but IMHO, I think its because the smallish/er blades and the newly-rediscovered novelty of their designs came first. After all, prior to the Subcoms and Lava, there weren't that many ultra-compact, ergonomic, thin, EDC blades with a fantastic price point that caused a sensation in the market.

I would like to see a traditional blade shape on the Hyper.
As far as SD, won't any SHARP blade do the trick?

I use my plain edge M-Type all the time and love it! It's my go-to knife when I have to cut something tough. The blade is perfect in my estimation and it holds a good edge and is easy to get hair-shaving sharp.
