Wonder why these are flying under the radar?

The only thing keeping me from buying the Hyper is concerns that it is too fat... the width from the spine to blade dege. Looks very wide.

I am up in the air between the Hyper and the Trance. Ideally, the Sebenza is perfect in size.
Some quick and dirty measurements:
Max Blade width:
Large Sebenza Reg. - 28mm
Hyper - 29mm
M-Type - 33mm

Just ordered an M type for what seems to me to be a more than reasonable price point for what you get. I haven't rec. it yet so can't comment on it as it isn't in my hot little hands but should be shortly. Maybe it will replace my 7! keepem sharp and merry xmas

Love my M Type!

Too many pictures. Looks like I'll have to get both to add to my CLB collection. Both appear great. I've used both my other CLB extensively without any disappointment. I'm sure these others will impress me as well. Doc, I might have to get the Wharnie too. Thanks Chad for the great designs.

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on a M Type after seriously
considering a Tenacious. What made me decide on the
M Type is the frame lock over the Tenacious's liner lock.

To answer why they seem to be flying under the radar, I guess
it's because they are made in China(I've noticed most of the knife people on this board are very much against red Chinese products, for good reason), I prefer American made knives or at the least Taiwanese but the value on these seems to good to pass up....

I did a review on the M-Type. Short story is I liked the design. Only negative is the thumb stud is too close to the axis to facilitate easy opening unless you find the very narrow sweet spot.

Chad if you look in your picture of this thread you'll notice the littly Hyper's thumb stud stands further out. This allows easier leverage to open. Probably an engineering issue than a designer issue though.

Pictures, and yes the knife is dirty because I actually carried it and used it.

Good sturdy lockup

Visual comparative to Spyderco Delica for size

If they just moved the edge of the thumbstud to the "S" location, the leverage to open one-handed would be greatly improved.

Maholo Chad!

Interesting observation Zenheretic;

My Hyper definately has more room in front of the handle towards the thumbstud.

Might be an improvement to move it approx 3mm towards the S. I need to get me one of those .

;)

Maarten, once opened, you really enjoy the designer's wisdom for a grip. As with any of his designs of this type, the M-type carries well with its slim profile. I'd say a lot of thought went into it.

The thumb stud issue will only be an issue for people with fat fingers...I don't have that problem with the "M" (thank God").....Doc:D

Aloha ALL,

Mahalo for the great input and feedback.

Oh man...zen'bro, you got the right avy set up for your bouts with SSifu here!:p

Maybe these are NOT flying under the radar as much as I thought...however on one forum, a member had NO IDEA these knives existed until I brought them up.:(

God bless and for those still unsure...as we say here, "Chance 'um brah!!!"
You'll LOVE the HYPER for an EDC and okay, perhaps the M-TYPE *might* be a bit much for urbanites, but for the outdoors, it rocks!!! (I killed many a mosquito with the flat of the M-Type's blade!:D)

Oh glad ; i'm off the hook;).

Might be Zenheretic needs to work of Christmas excesses.. Well the cure might be this:

Rec. mine today and am not disappointed at all. Nice and flat with excellant weight in the handle. The ball detents may be a tad to grabby but it won't fly open if it is dropped. Passes the spine whack test with colors. Nice grip ergo's too which I appreciate.

The only thing I can think of right off the bat to improve it is to just use one solid piece of g10 instead of the g10/steel liner combo. I think it would make the knife a bit lighter in the hand and not in any way affect the robust feel of the knife. Excellant job on this knife. keepem sharp

Thanks, Longbow.
Have a one-piece G-10 scale made for the knife. Gull Wing did a great Orange handle slab for my Trance.
