Woo-Hoo, My KITH Knife Arrived!

image.jpg

Knife arrived a few days ago but being out of town I could not open it to appreciate until last night. What an amazing knife! Love the shape - very original. Handle material was gorgeous - very honoured by the knife! Amazing craftsmanship!

Woo Hoo. My KITH knife arrived. Received this little skinner. The handle is super comfortable and it came nice and sharp. Thanks Klammer and Merry Christmas.

Still two knives left to be delivered to the recipient. Mine and Mike's. They both are going overseas. Hopefully, they will arrive by Christmas.

I once posted a couple of 4mm stop pins to a guy in Belgium and the packet took over 30 days to get there.

If I walked at 4mph and swam at 0.5 mph I could have got there and back almost twice in the same time.

I hope my knife is not being delivered by the same guy, as the Atlantic is a bit wider than the English Channel:)

Mine was delivered to its recipient today. It may take a while before he posts on it.

Woohoooo I got my 2015-KITH-knife, picked it up at my fathers this morning :)
Stacy send me a my first white paper steel knife and also my first knife with a hamon as well.
I love the contrast of sleek lines of the spine and edge and a nice wavey hamon! The makers mark in Japanese gives it *that* little extra charm.
She's just over 4" long, to me that is good size for a user knife. I'm realy looking forewards to see how white paper steel is in use. Stacy hardened her to app. 62 rockwell and got her shaving sharp.
It shows that the man has made a knife before!
I'll post some pics when the GF gets home later today.
Thank you very much Stacy!!

Knife2.jpgKnife3.jpgMine may be last but it was worth the wait. Mike enclosed a letter saying I probably have not seen anything like it and he was right. A flipper that you close by pushing down on the lock bar by inserting your finger in the hole through the titanium handles. Knife works very smoothly and fit and finish is excellent. I am posting pictures to show the knife but I will include the specs of the knife here. Blade and lock bar are RWL 34, Scales are titanium , stainless 410 hardware and phosphor bronze washers. Knife is 4 3/4 closed and 8 3/8 opened and is a handful.

Here are some quick pics I took of the knife I send to Stacy.
Stainless blade and a stacked leather handle with fluted brass hard ware.
(no black epoxy lines between the washers:))
I'll be making more handles like this, imho it feels well in your hand

I just got a second Christmas gift from one of the KITH guys. Steve ( glassguy) sent me a neat book - "The History of the Science of Steel - 1532 to 1786".

Normally, I would fill a glass with a fine single malt, light a fire, and read the book all day on Christmas. But with the temps around 80 today and tomorrow, I may have to forgo the fire.

Thanks Steve - Merry Christmas everyone.
