OK, KITH participants, This is where you can post that your knife arrived , post a photo of it, and any comments you want. Members of either KITH can use this thread, as there is no need to separate them any more.

Since a lot have already been mailed, they could start arriving as early as tomorrow.

is this going to be a sticky?

No need for a sticky! By January 1st we'll all be playing with our new knives and won't care about this thread anymore!! :D:p

Seriously though, I am excited to see stuff start popping up in this thread!! Good stuff

My Kith knife arrived on Thursday and was waiting for me when I got in from work. It was to late to take pictures but I'll do my best to get some posted Friday.
My knife was made by Tobin Smith and it is a beauty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am tickled pink with it Tobin. Great craftmanship, gorgeous stag with a finely worked blade of 1095 and brass hardware, my favorite. Long swedges, hamon, excellent fit and finish all add up to one fine blade. Your hand written note was a nice touch and let me just say that you definitely get a big nod of approval from this knife maker.
Thanks again Tobin, I am proud to have such a fine knife and family heirloom.
Merry Christmas

My KITH Knife arrived as well I received a Beautiful knife from Mr. Bill Akers of Backwoods Knives. I remember when he posted the photos in the "I'm ready thread" and the amazing piece of wood, it is even better in person. I will be using this knife frequently for sure it looks like it will be a great performer and looker to boot! Thank you very much Bill you put out a great knife! I will get some photos up later today.

Edit: Here are the promised Photos.

Awesome, Joe, I'm glad you like it! As a fellow craftsman I'm sure you understand what it means when someone likes your work, so thank you, too!
Merry Christmas!

WoW! If my KITH gift is any indication, I must have been a really good boy this year. Look what Santa Stacy sent me!!!

I am reliably informed this is a chisel ground (katakiri ha) knife for right handed folks, such as myself, and is supremely suite for slicing raw fish, which I consume as often as possible (given that my wife is a germaphobe).

The fourth picture shows Stacy's Japanese makers mark, and it translates into "bladesmith".

Thanks, Stacy! I guarantee this will see use in my kitchen, and with some luck my finger will not be the only raw meat that gets sliced!!! ;)

Glad you like it ,Greg.
Most folks don't really need ( or know how to use) a 10" yanagiba. A little fish slicer like this will do the job nicely.

A always, wash carefully and dry immediately after use ......and put away. I would get a blade cover from your local kitchen supply, and use it to protect the blade in the drawer.

Give your wife "the talk" about using super sharp knives. My wife isn't allowed to use my knives ( by her own volition).

I make and sharpen sashimi knives regularly....and it still makes me nervous to handle them with anything but great respect.

Why do i have to live so far away! I probably won't get mine for another week or so. Next year internationals should get drawn and sent first so we get them at the same time :D :D :D
