Wood gasification stove.

G'day Valcas

Thanks for showing how simple one of these would be to make

A question if I may to anyone who has used one of these.

With the airflow comming from underneath the fire, have you noticed it produce any "floating cinders"?

Thanks in advance

Kind regards
Mick

Valcas1, google magic heat stove kit and look at the top of it, its just a sterno can with a pot stand on top of it, but the top of it, the pot stand, you ready, press fits perfectly on top of the paint can, I've made two of these so far and they work great, thanks for the post, you can get the magic heat stove kit at Ace for 12 bucks.

That looks perfect. Thanks for the heads up!

Hey Mick

I have not noticed ant floating cinders at all. The stove actually uses such a small amount of wood and burns so clean I don't think it will be an issue for you. It is not forced air like some other battery operated stoves. just the heated air coming through the vent holes on the top of the inner can.

But the short answer is no floating cinders.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for your response  .

Floating cinders can be a real concern with any fires over here (especially during our hotter / drier months).

This is definetly something I'm going to investigate for use during my bush trips in the warmer months.

Once again, thank you Paul :thumbup:

I have been following this thread with much interest. I have got to build one of these. I have been playing around with several ideas and this looks like it will work great for me. I have an almost unlimited supply of wood where I camp so this has real potential.

I'm still working with my mine and have to do a bit of coaxing after it burns a bit.. I opened up the top holes(on the inner can) to 1/2" and that helped some but still have a do a little coaxing.. I'll try making the bottom holes 1/2" as well to see if that helps..

Also what are you using for fuel ?? I'm using hickory chips since I have a few bags of them and they're dry.. I also have a bag of wood pellets but have yet to try them..

Did you make the wire grate to lift the fire off of the bottom of the firebox?
