hello, can anyone take a quess or confirm what the name of this wood is. 1 pic dry--the other pics with alcohol rubbed on it. --good luck--thanks-Marek
I study wood. All types of wood. I try to learn as much as I can so as to purchase the highest quality that is avialable. This burl I shall not name. I purchased it 4-5 years ago before I really got into my study. This burl block was put aside and forgotten . I just cut it up. The ebay seller called it******** burl. When i look at this wood it does not resemble the burl he called it at all. So either he is wrong or this is a variation of this species that im not familiar with. The reason I am not naming the burl is to see if anyone calls it the same name as the seller. In that way maybe it actually is what the ebayer stated it is. Anyway-I can tell you its not the above mentioned. I hope someone can positively identify it. It is very intersting.--thanks-Marek
..... if I had a piece of madrone burl in stock right now, I'd trade you for that piece in a heartbeat. I think you got the better of the deal - even if you can't identify it.
It is spalting of sorts or advanced decay if it's soft. ID from photos is often a guessing game so when you come to Atlanta BLADE show to help me set up tomorrow bring it along. I'm pretty sure what it is, but no point guessing until then.. see ya, POB
i cant do it right now but i can tell you its about the same. the side dont have any distinct swirling pattern, it basicall just looks like the front. ill put a pic up tomorrow--thanks-marekz
