;)

I almost never read this thread, at least partly because I never remember to think about carrying wood for Wednesday. But I happened to remember that I was totin' some wood this week, and I'm sure glad I stopped by because Jolipapa's knife is totally mesmerizing!!!!:thumbup:

Before I forget, I happen to be carrying this MAM Iberica this week:

I also happen to be using this Opinel #8 Garden Knife in the kitchen this week:

Oh, and just now the postal carrier brought me this 3rd 66 gem, by way of Scottland from Mr. PMEW - thank you so much, friend! I've been waiting to get these three together for this shot ever since he contacted me. Apparently this stockman originated with Sitflyer - blades and Springs all blued and spey modified to this drop point. If you look closely, the stockman is SN#07 and the Moose is SN#14, which is kinda cool, both from the same year. Oh I feel good about this...

Traum, our friend in Scotland has been very busy exercising his gift of generosity. This one just arrived from the Isle of Lewis just because Paul knows fond I am of 26s and wanted to help me in my quest. Amazing chap, our friend Paul!

And more cloud shielded Northfield cocobolo, to boot! Very generous spirit, for sure.

That just really nice earned patina or were your blades and springs blued, too?

I like that a lot, don't think I have seen one like it before.

This is a SFO for an Auxerre shop (see bottom of http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1009593-Share-your-French-traditional-regional-pocket-knives/page11) with a spear blade instead of a sheepsfoot

the tonneau comes also with a corkscrew, quite useful on a burgundian knife :D

and derives from the Langres (formerly Langres was an important center for middle/top end cutlery)

Traum, that's the result of some hot vinegar. I rarely force a patina but there was something about this guy that begged for a nice dark patina on the wharnie.

So bloodwood and I have a history. A year or so ago I ordered a brand new fiddleback forge kephart in bloodwood that was stolen/lost in shipping. Then I spent 8+ months scratching and saving for my dream shotgun, which I recently sold to pay for my dog's cancer treatment. That span caused me to miss the CK 85 SFO in Bloodwood, a knife that would've filled my blood lust quite well.

But- I just got this in off the exchange! I finally got a piece!

After learning your saga I am so happy that you removed the remorse I had for hesitating. So happy for you bud! Sorry to hear about the pup. Hope that went as best it could.

That one is a show stopper. I wonder if they did a single blade. My luck at finding single blade 15s with longcut spears has been an exercise in attention and patience; in 2 years I've found a single version and passed on a duplicate of the same knife. Right now my grail is an Antique Yellow Long pull barehead spear 15.

With your head (shield) in the clouds...

Thanks

Joe - Thanks, this one is actually a 77 Yankee Jack.:)

Ah shucks...I'm dense/tired/over-family'd... and moderately buzzed (the later followed the former...my truly sweet and very tolerant future in-laws felt fit to bring their neurotically vocal and laisezze-fair disciplined terriers for the weekend).

Take your pick, or (with grace) give me the whole lot of my excuses!

Levity aside, I do appreciate the polite correction, Ron. Ever the gent. Sadly not many people will set you straight these days because of those feeling things that seem to be fragile and overtly abundant.

Back to knives lest I stray too far...I haven't been carrying this gem on Wednesday because she doesn't tote so swell in slacks, but my first Snakewood helped me realize she won't be the last...I'd love a bare head 15 (or 77!) in these covers as well.

And this one does the bulk of the work that only a fixed blade can handle
