The recent flurry of threads on Opinels and friction folders reminded me that I wanted to try modding an Opinel No5:

I like it, but I can see all kinds of little spots where I could've done better. Might have to do another. ...This is how habits form, isn't it? :D

Also, at 1/2 oz according to my kitchen scale, it weighs less than anything else I carry, including the zytel-handled Case lockback that was a previous knife-modding project. The tactical knife guys might have a point about carbon fiber after all -- it just turns out I like nature's version better than man's.

It turn out really nice, the only thing that bugs me is the knot on the inside I hope it doesn't leek or splits around it.

Great job on finishing kuksa,hope that knot doesn't make any problems :thumbup:
 
Got this one yesterday, since then in my pocket. Originally it had synthetic handles that were converted to dark ebony. Since I haven't took photos yet I am borrowing the previous owner photo (Conficius37)
