Nice old Catt,Cal!! Ebony is such wonderful stuff!!

Here's an old, respectfully worn, Ebony Empire and a new Black Jack!! The Empire is older than the '32 roadster below it!:D The block of Ebony below the car is as dense and heavy as can be!! Restricted now because of over-harvesting, Ebony may soon go the way of Ivory!!!:eek:Ebonies 1.jpg

Such a gorgeous knife from Señor Herreros. Hope he's doing okay.

I wrote to him a few weeks ago. No word back. I'll try again after Christmas. Pretty certain he has had to retire due to his health. I hope that's the worst of it. Last time I wrote his son replied for José. :(
More as it happens.

Yes - beautiful knives

So many great, dense, durable and usable woods for pocketknives!!
Brilliant Bloodwood, Ecstatic Ebony and Wonderous Walnut!!View attachment 1251341

Some good ol' fashioned American Walnut for me today.

The other woods are certainly beautiful and suit knives very well but there is something fundamental and classic about walnut that just speaks to the long history of knives. I will bet that Rezin Bowie had Black cover Jim’s knife with walnut.

Yes, I e-mailed him some time back and his son replied. Was just wondering if anyone had heard anything lately. He is a great artisan.
