I like ebony that has some striation to it. Makes it interesting.Normally I like my ebony as close to jet as possible, but this knife nevertheless caught my eye.

I like how it illustrates the variance present in natural materials. If this wood had been split and the halves hafted onto a slipjoint I don't think I would enjoy it as much. I probably would have considered the covers mismatched. But on a piece this thick, with one side black and the other streaked with brown? I think it is interesting character...
