Here's my old Schrade Walden NY USA #163 rope knife, in its native habitat (out on the dock :D). Love this one. It sees quite a bit of back pocket carry. This carbon steel that Schrade used is really great stuff, and the wooden handles are rugged and handsome. The iron bolsters 'really tie the room together.'

I thought I'd treat myself this Wooden Wednesday and take Johan to work....

They really knew a thing a thing or two about steel back then....and I swear Pre-war steel gets sharper than any other.

He's nearly as old as Jack Black's first pair of socks! :D

Enjoy your midweek Traditionals folks.

A fine knife. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, new one to me...I don't think I have felt a more comfortable handle as this one!

I've been eyeing this one for a while. It's funny to me that for all the consideration and effort that goes the ergonomics and shape of knife handles, a simple round barrel shaped handle is about as good as it gets.

How true! The birch bark has a certain feel to it, somewhat like compressed leather or cork. A most inviting grip is presented by it.

Unmarked grafting/budding knife. IIRC, Vince thought it was Italian???
That looks Italian to me, too. Nice one.

Duane, that puukko looks about a perfect size for EDC. Do you wear it on your belt, or carry it in your pocket? Never owned a birch bark handle personally, but had opportunities to hold them... really a great material, and you guys are right, it has a very comfortable feel to it.

Alex, it is currently riding in the leg pocket of my cargo shorts, the curved sheath lets it nestle comfortably in there. With jeans I will put the loop on my belt and tuck the sheath into the RF pocket, comfy and discreet with a loose shirt on...

Had this one in my pocket for a morning meeting, a local dealership wants me to come to work for them. :)
