kamagong - thank you. I have been quite lucky at finding my grail knife/knives:

How true! The birch bark has a certain feel to it, somewhat like compressed leather or cork. A most inviting grip is presented by it.

It's that 'fat mountain trout' ergonomic again Duane. Birch bark is so tactile isn't it?

I think its texture is dependent on the finish. In its raw state I think it's a bit like cork. A few coats of linseed oil and it almost feels leathery. Either way the feeling is luxurious.

I'm a fan.

I knew you'd be along to show off you BB Christian.

Always nice to see that one though.

One of these days I shall FINALLY get round to handling a full stacked bark puukko.

You have your favorites my scruffy friend, I have mine. ;)

Strangely enough, birch bark is far from my favorite, at least aesthetically. But once you have it hand it's hard to imagine a better handle material.

Can't wait to see what you do with a puukko blade and some birch bark. But I think you should make a bog oak sgian dubh first. :D

Thanks Jack:) That one will be given to my wife next week for her birthday, she loves ironwood and mosaic pins...

One of yours? I should have guessed. I'm sure your wife will be thrilled Duane :)

That's very interesting, can I ask the maker? :)

This is the Hunter model from Andy Roy of Fiddleback Forge. I'm kind of new around the Traditionals forum but this simple design with the wood scales certainly make me feel traditional, even if it's got a couple layers of modernity squeezed in there.

Thanks for the info KP, great-looking knife  I'm not sure when fixed-blade designs got so 'sensible' (again), but it's nice to see so many many good, practical designs :)

All of these halfwits are very nice. Looks like another one has been added to my list.
