Woods walk with a Possum

Believe it or not, that photo doesn't do justice to the number of teeth they have!

When they curl their lips back, it appears they have about 100 teeth! No kidding! (I believe the actual number is something over 50....). Nice sharp, pointy little teeth....

I think most wild animals look more beautiful up close... you can't really appreciate how pretty a lot of them are until you get a really close look. The ol' 'possum is an exception to that rule, I think. :) They always seem to look "unwashed" and "uncombed", like they just got up.

Stay sharp,

Possum? during the day time?

Stay far away from it. Unless it is a baby or an orphan, a possum in the day time is not normal at all.

Now baby possums on the other hand, are cute and easy to care for, and their bite only hurts 1/5th as much!
I've used this guide to care for more than one http://www.awrc.org/Baby Opossums.htm

There's a bunch of those around here. Even in the city. I've seen them in my sister's backyard in Los Angeles. I think they're ugly and my dog thinks so too:D

o possum

where art thou!

This skull stumped me in my first zoology class. Look at all them teef!

Great pics and cool looking knife!

There is a nasty old Possum that drives my dog nuts every night about 11pm! Dog winds up waking my daughter with its barking.:grumpy:
I'm gonna have to test my deadfall skills on that SOB! (on the possum, not my dog or daughter;))

Opossums are omnivores and will eat anything they come across within reason, killing chickens if they get the chance. Mostly raccoons get the blame but the sneaky old 'possum does his share of farmyard carnage don't kid yourself!

I have at least a 30lb coon in the side garden every night grubbing around, drives the house cats crazy! As long as the night critters are not around in the daytime I'm fine leaving them be. But when I see them after sun up they are doomed!

Neat pics of an Opossum in the day time. Although, I really hate them.. They always get in my garbage at night, and anything that gets in my garbage is dead meat. Literally. If they play nice, and stay out of my garbage, I don't have a problem, though.
