Saying that the word "knife" in the Knife Rights logo "is not family friendly," M&M's rejected a Knife Rights order for promotional packages of M&M's candies with the Knife Rights logo on them. Then they lied and claimed Knife Rights canceled the order, when it was entirely their doing!

If you'd like to let them know how you feel about the word "knife" not being "family friendly," you can contact M&M's at: 1-908-852-1000 (only M-F 9:00-5:00) or via email using the form at: https://www.mms.com/us/contact

I find it hypocritical of them, they currently air a commercial in which an older actor speaking Russian has some "henchmen" open the trunk of the car to reveal one one of the talking M&Ms inside. The Russian "mob boss" proceeds to tell the M&M in Russian that he is "Going to chop him up into little pieces and sprinkle him over ice cream". No loss for me, I don't much care for sweets, and I will not be buying them for my family.

Wow, haven't seen that commercial that Rev speaks of, but that is much more ominous than the word knife. Sad. M&Ms are tasty. Good thing I prefer Reese's.

The corporate circle talk and avoidance is common, but the deception and cowardice is appalling. Dang it, I love Altoids. Guess I'll find a replacement.

Thanks for the heads up.

Kind of a funny commercial, but also makes me heave a sigh of exasperation as a Russian language major. Le sigh. Thanks for the link Rev, this is important to know.

This sounds like a decision made at a lower corporate level. I've seen similar cases of office staff embarrassing a company.

Boycott their products AND let them know what you think via the contact info provided.

Bah. I love knives and yet I love chocolate... but let's not kid ourselves here: M&M's, despite their relative novelty (ever put a bunch in milk and swirl it around? Magical rainbow candy milk!)--are chocolate that's lying about being chocolate. They're pseudo-chocolate. Posers. Charlatans! They're the Bud Light of chocolate--if it was watered down with cat piss. They're the AUS-4 of chocolate. They're what chocoholics keep next to the bed when they're scraping the bottom of their penny jar to support their habit. So maybe there's a silver lining here.

I commented on their facebook page and sent an email. Won't do any good, but hopefully they reconsider their silly position.

Just sent the following to Mars:

I just read that you cancelled an order for M&Ms that were to be sent to Knife Rights.org. You stated that the word "knife" wasn't family friendly. Knives are tools that are used every day to prepare food, open packages and yes, even save lives. I believe that your decision was made at a lower level of your management team and does not reflect the opinion of your company as a whole. Please let me know that I am correct and overturn this obvious misunderstanding of company policy by a Mars employee.

I banned their commercials in my house long ago. That yellow M&M was always inviting someone to eat her.

I thought I was the only one feeling weird watching that. Not to mention my 7yr old son is a fast reader smh
I say instead of a boycott we do a Boston tea party type thing lol

Well, I tried to contact M&Ms at their contact us page and my email was not accepted. Who knows why. So I posted a boycott message on my Facebook page and also included the following challenge.....

Anyone who agrees with M&Ms that knives are not "Family Friendly" should remove all knives from their kitchen, garage, workshops, pockets, etc and learn to live with just spoons (uh uh - no forks - those are specialized knives used only for STABBING food).
