Word "Knife" not "Family Friendly" - Who knew? M&M's Rejects Knife Rights' Order!

I have seen this kind of double standard quite often.

Capitol One Credit card company refused to let me put a picture of one of my culinary knives on my company card because the knife could kill someone. Meanwhile they run commercials of Vikings raiding and plundering with swords and axes & hachets.

Boycott their products AND let them know what you think via the contact info provided.

Exactly. I also asked them how they would make their various products without knives in their business and does the fact that they need to use these original tools of man are they, themselves, not family friendly?

What a bunch of hypocritical jerks.

M&M's are banned in my house for other infractions, but this will extend the ban to 2099....

Funny how the same mindset that finds knives evil will bite them in the ass when the the healthfood Nazis get around to banning them for causing obesity and cavities.

That does it !! I'm gonna stop asking new parents if the kid is plain or peanut.

"Dear Consumer,

Thank you for your email.
MY M&M's® made the decision to not print the customized order because it contained the word "knife," which is not in keeping with the fun, celebratory nature of our brand.

Sincerely,
Your friends at MY M&M’S® Chocolate Candies"

I got the same "canned" reply.

Talk about stabbing themselves in the foot! One of the examples on their Business to Business brochure is Lockheed Martin, maker of, among other things, numerous weapons systems for the military. So, how is that considered "fun" and "celebratory" when the word "knife," a tool used at millions of family occasions is not?

I got exactly the same. I emailed them back to point out their hypocrisy in using the Russian mafia commercial. I wonder if they'll even respond to that.

Well, at least it shows that the comment about KR canceling the order is a bunch of bull. ;)

They should change their wording to "Make (Selective, Family Friendly, Politically Correct, Pre-Approved) Occasions Better".

My reply:

While I appreciate the reply I will let you know that I find it ridiculous. Knives are tools, tools that my family utilize everyday from cutting open weenies packages to grill (family events) to cutting zucchini to roast for our family dinner. I also find it funny that knives are not keeping with fun and the celebratory nature of your brand but a commercial where a Russian mob boss explains that he's going to cut a personified M&M up and eat is keeping with family fun. I believe my use of knives is much more family friendly than your description.

I will no longer support your product.

That's a crying shame... I'm a Capital One cardholder.. Little do they know my card has bought a few knives. ;)

The knife on your card is about as dangerous as the ones in their commercials. Geez.

I should tell my better half about all this, becuase, crazy her, she saved the cake knife from our wedding.

I think you should have cake at least once a month, and cut it with that knife. Perfect excuse to eat cake often.
