Start posting pictures of your items in your sale threads. None of that "email me for pics" crap!

I can't fathom how many times I have ignored a sales thread just because the seller does not know how to post pics in the thread and requests people to "email him for pics". I as a buyer do not want to waste my time nor yours in emailing you for pictures. I want to just click on the thread and have the pictures of your items right there in front of me. If I like it I'll buy it on the spot. If I don't then I didn't have to waste my time or yours in asking you to send me pictures.

Seriously people, learn how to post pictures in your sales threads. It's not hard to do and it will help you out big time, as opposed to just asking people to email you.

I have to agree. It's even in the rules, just imagine the shock if we stopped letting it slide?
Sellers/Selling -
1. Be 100% sure that you want to sell the item, have it in your possession and clearly list the selling price. There is no "testing the waters" or "gauge buyer interest".
2. Activate/Enable your ability to receive email and private messaging, from members, moderators, and administrators; you must display your correct membership level.
3. Be honest and provide an accurate & detailed description of the item. Don't forget to mention defects, blemishes, new, used, or other problems. When in doubt, be pessimistic with your descriptions.
4. Provide as many photos as possible, in the best lighting possible. It's always nice for buyers to see what they are going to get.
5. Be specific with all details of payment. There is no eBay style auctioning allowed. If you want to entertain trade offers, say so in your sales thread (For Sale Or Trade); it is allowed.
6. If you have a Gold or higher membership you may list currently active threads in your signature. Please, no giant billboards and no links to eBay.
7. Consolidate your threads. If you have multiple knives to sell, post them in a single thread. Or you can do different threads on different days. You are only allowed 1 sales thread, per day, per forum. Let's keep it fair for everyone.
8. You must wait 14 days (2 weeks) to relist an item.

+1...

People should actually stop saying stuff like "it's new, and you know what these look like". Yes, I know what they should look like, but I need to see what the one you have for sale looks like.

If i don't see pictures i almost always instantly hit the back button. Unless its a knife I'm extremely interested in.

:thumbup:I agree as well, seems obvious really. Helps to sell your knife as prospective buyers know right away what you are offering and have an idea about the condition.

Why does that rule get a pass? In my opinion it should not.:thumbdn:

It's not that it gets a pass, but it takes a whole hell of a lot of work to enforce. It might come down to it sooner rather than later. Some changes might be in the works. The rules do need some updating and I've been working on another draft.

Pics should be required, and good ones, not crap blurry dark cellphone pics.

If you can afford a smartphone that costs hundreds and hundreds of $'s, you can afford a cheap digital camera to photograph that XM/CR/STRDR that costs hundreds and hundreds of $'s.

Just my 2 pennies....

Glad to see this brought up. I've passed over many a sales thread for this very reason. I've learned to go with sellers who post clear photos from several angles so I know exactly what I'm getting. Too much of a gamble to buy something sight unseen.

I hate how so many things are being forced in the rules, but one would figure almost all of these rules would be automatic. Sad that you have to force people into common sense.

An open post to all who do this...

Other than being lazy, wasting bandwidth, and creating visual clutter; why do you do this? A low cost trolling-for-interest technique? Yes.

Thanks OP. This behavior is in poor form and I hope the community lets those who do it know.

This is exactly how I feel. There have been multiple times that I would have probably considered buying if there was a pic but when their isn't I just close the thread.

A completely valid point. Pictureless sale threads are bad business.

Although, as the rule is stated:
"4. Provide as many photos as possible, in the best lighting possible. It's always nice for buyers to see what they are going to get."

I have a 16gig card in my camera... that's a LOT of pictures, but that would be "as many as possible." Perhaps, "Provide a sufficient amount of pictures to accurately portray the item."?

Read post 9. ;)

D'oh! My apologies. :) Thank you for all the work you mods do!

No need to apologize. :) I'm struggling trying to make the necessary edits to the rules page. When I am done, it will be much cleaner, shorter and to the point. As it stands the existing announcement section times out as the post is super long.
