Wore my knife to work yesterday...

I EDC my Izula every day to work. I just don't let anyone see it. If I need to cut something at work I pull out my SAK. ;)

yea, there is the knife they know i have, and usually a knife or two they do not know i have.

Third, one of the guys who knows I collect knives came over to show me his new SOG, while he was showing me I pulled out both the RC3 and the Izula and showed him. His responce was "Damn, I need to get one of this company's knives!"

I think I found my two new favorites :)

Haha, way to steal his thunder.

I am curious though, do you use those knives in the kitchen or do you just carry them to carry them? Having two fixed blades on your person in that quick deployment fashion certainly is a good way to reinforce that "crazy knife kid" rep you've already got going;)

I have them to have them...The only time I use any of my nonchef knives are breaking down boxes or something...

and like I said, most of the time the only person that knows I have something on other than the one I may pull out is me.

I'm a field / installation manager and sales exec in the homebuilding industry (all flooring, tile, and granite) so I can pretty much carry whatever tool I can think of on me, I'm very lucky! Some of the knives I carry are pretty tame in comparison to some of the tools I have in my tool box.

I am a chef as well and I carry my Centofante 3 every day. Someone asked why I wasn't using a "safety knife" and I asked why they cared. They said that knives were against company policy. I then presented them with my 10" Shun and asked how I should cut things without...they quietly walked away never to return.

I am not certain why a small folder raises concerns more than a small sword.

i agree that it is ironic a cook cant carry a pocket knife but have a huge kitchen knife, some companies

I know what you mean Viva La I also work in a kitchen and have two knives on me, and 3 more in my bag. But the Izula is so handy.

well, to be fair they weren't really showing, I work in a kitchen and they were both under my chefs coat.

I'mpretty much the crazy knife kid. I have gone in wearing a custom fixed blade thats about 10 or 11 inches long, I failed at completely hiding that one...

As long as you don't sit down or bend over too fast and walk to work, you should be okay.

The getting fired for having a knife thing is foreign to me, maybe i have been lucky or maybe it is a Canadian thing, but I have always carried a knife. I carried a small custom FB back in the day working at the GAP, and no one said a thing(it was about the size of the izula). Now I work half and half in the an office half in the field (electrical engineer and technician) and carry an RC-4 both places horiz across the back. The only comment I ever got was when I lent it to our CEO he wanted to know where I bought it.

but I have always carried a knife.

I have done the same since after high school. I don't flash it,. i use it, and i just carry it without apology nor permission. I guess I'm lucky then? (At least I'm lucky about something :D )

Growing up, my father didn't consider us dressed until we had a knife on our person. My poor kids are in high school, and tell me they go to school "naked" every day. I know better, but what the school doesn't know won't hurt them, I guess.

Now, carrying inverted at 12:00 might prompt someone to ask whether you have a knife under your apron, or are you glad to see me?

Any of you guys utilize the single belt loop on the sheath for the izula? How does it work?

I've had my boss tell me not to bring my cheapo folder I use to open boxes. But it's ok if I have box cutter razors in my desk. Go figure...

I just discovered that the Izula is drilled for the large Tek Lock. It carries very comfortably in the vertical position, outside the belt, behind my hip.

Yesterday I had my IZULA with fresh wrap around my neck, RC-3 on left hip cross draw style, Kimber Ultra Carry on right hip (Legally of course) and Hinderer XM-18 Gen 3 clipped to right front pocket. After I got back home, the Kimber came off and the RC-3 went to right hip. Very comfortable.

I would imagine if you were to just keep your mouth shut and never pull it out, you could wear the IZULA as a necker with never being detected. Then, if in a life saving situation, if it were needed, then, you would have it and be the hero.

With my luck, fumbling to get the knife out, I would probably get it snagged on my shirt and commit hari-kari. Too much flopping around for me. I'd rather have it stable on my hip somewhere for a more positive draw. But that's just me.

hallmark(yeah the greeting card maker-headquartered in kansas city) has fired numerous employees the last few yrs for carry very traditional "gentlemens" pocket knives. they have a no tolerance policy regarding weapons and unfortunately many folks consider knives nothing more than weapons
