Work gloves/BOB gloves - what you use?

Those Mechanix Wear Gloves are the bomb! As long as you get them sized right they should work great for a plethora of general tasks. I have had mine for a little more than a month for anything from changing breakpads to batoning wood while camping. Still in great condition.

I posted a thread much like this one several months ago. I ended up buying another pair of mechanix gloves. A good pair of leather driving gloves works well too, but in my experience they don't last as long.

I have a few sets of the mechanix gloves and a few of the nomex flight gloves should fill about any use I need them for.

Hey guys - thanks for the continued responses!

I'm going to give the Mechanix gloves a shot - sounds like the dexterity they provide is pretty perfect for my uses...

Guys, can anyone recommend a place online that sells Mechanix but ship overseas here to Brazil?

There are lots of good choices. What I use at work and took camping last time are these:

They're cheap, warmer and more durable than the non insulated ones. (I recommend them for cooler weather, not summer).
In my experience they last longer than the Mechanix offerings and still provide good dexterity.

Hey guys - since keeping your hands safe in a survival, camping and work environment is such a big concern, just wondering what type you choose to use when doing work and/or which you keep in you bob or edc bag for emergencies?

I need to get a new pair and have heard good things about Mechanix and was thinking about pulling the trigger on THESE... Seem to be perfect for my uses and much less expensive than the Oakley Standard Issue glove that I was also considering...

Would appreciate your thoughts and recommendations!

Mech gloves, yup.

Or the Home Depot Tradesman version with the leather palms and stretchy nylon backing.

The Home Depot gloves are about $12 a pair.

The Mech Impact gloves are pretty okay as well.

I keep a pair of Mechanix gloves for most everything, but I'll switch to leather work gloves when I'm doing a lot of work with wood.

The Mechanix gloves are great for most tactical tasks, but when it comes to HD use and rope work your far better off with leather. Rapelling, fast roping, or any other rope work that gets HD your Mechanix gloves will NOT handle the work. Pretty much most tactical gloves will not hold up to HD work with ropes and andy other work. That's why it's always a good idea to keep one pair of each around.

For those with the Mechanix gloves, after wearing them and using/washing, do they tend to stretch or shrink? Just trying to figure out what size to order. Thanks!

Well my Mechanix came a few days ago and for $17 I am pretty pleased - really good fit and should be perfect for 90% of what I'll need them for... What I would not use them for is stacking wood, pulling out thorn bushes etc. - while the synthetic leather on the palm side seems tough, it is no substitute for traditional leather work gloves, when dexterity is not needed.

Like a few already mentioned on the fit, I am usually a size M, but ordered a L which are a good fit. The M would have been WAY too tight.

In my pack, I always keep a pair of fairly snug fitting leather work gloves (the brand varies, but there a ton of quality stuff out there) and a few pairs of nitrile gloves.
I've used both kinds a lot, and have never felt myself wanting for more than that

i keep mostly nomax gloves in my bags. i have alot of extra pairs from my time in and they are great. and you can find them for pretty cheap also
