Work hardenability?

the source goes to some real cool farming techniques - stuff were going to need to remember after the fall of industry and the impending zombie apocalypse

my newest edition to my Zombie killer stable = with "work harden ability" - makes the muscles in your arm harder the more you swing it - guessing it weighs in at a good 3- 4 pounds

WW2 American Airlines Crash Axe - 15 and 1/2 inches long - 5/16 thick in the haft and 1/4 inch thick for the head - good hard and heavy steel;

Cool, Eric, I've actually seen that before, but, seeing as it is a crash axe, I knew it would be impractical to own one as anything more than a collectible. And I like blades that work hard and heavy, not ones that sit on the sidelines and complain about their master not using them. Not that I am recommending you get rid of it, who knows, you might get in a crash someday, and need an awesome crash axe, or you just might need to chop wood, and with nothing else available, take your handy crash axe and split/chop some logs. But I am speaking to a blade enthusiast, so when will a good blade not be available at your disposal, I wonder. You sure seem to have a quite a collection, I hope to be as great a collector of blades as you... and everyone else on the forums, for that matter. Oh, and while that rust does give that crash axe some mad character, I would definitely advice some steel wool or other abrasive treatment to get it off STAT, that, or keep it in a kind of vacuum sealed glass case or something until use is required. But, yeah, thank you for sharing it, I always wondered what the interior hole in the steel was for, does anyone know? Maybe for breaking sticks and bones in half or something like that? Yeah, and I or someone else should absolutely start a picture thread, it would be legendary, to me, at least, to be able to see everyone's collections frozen in action or something. Okay, peace everyone.

actually there isn't any rust its tarnish -- if you look the edge shines and soon it will be razior sharp and its functional for busting heads.

I have 6 or 7 - 2 double bit 3 single 2 mauls - Before my back got to bad i split a lot of wood on a regular basis, my friends usually the younger ones now help me with it.

We give away firewood to people that have fireplaces/ wood stoves but can’t afford to buy wood and their oil or gas heating bills are too high. Mostly Oak red or white or other hard woods -

A tree cutting service owned by some El Salvadorian guys bring me all i want. They don’t speak English and I don’t speak Spanish but they know i want only hard woods and they get to saves them the dump fees and a trip 30 miles to the dump so it works out for everyone.

wow i didn't plan on saying all that well before my back got bad guys used to stare wide eyed as i would split large logs one handed (my best friend would set em up and stack them so i didn't have to bend over) -- (technique not strength - well a lil strength) but now I cant split logs more than few times without paying dearly for it (close to tears type pain).

So just know that I really really really like swinging axes (splitting wood is also good therapy as well as anger management tool)

this one is for hand to head Zombie chopping

as for the scythe post it reminded me of old school stuff a great website

knowing of the inevitable Zombie apocalypse and -- with held sustainable farm land in my back yard dry goods in the basement 3 - 12 gauges shot guns - 9 mm and a WW2 Springfield 303 with the flip up trajectory rear sight - an axe in one hand and a 20 inch CAK in the other - bring on the Zombies baby -- wooooooooooo whoooooooooo

Ha ha! Great stuff, man. While I like the look of some guns, like a carbon fiber M60 I saw recently, I think they are kind of like cheating when compared to a good solid blade. One takes skill and luck, the other, well...actually, both take skill and luck, but it just seems so barbaric, to quote dear Obi Wan Kenobi, to shoot someone when compared to...brutally slashing and hacking them into pieces? I'm not getting my point across at all. Lets just leave it as my random, Star Wars founded opinion that its cooler and more elegant to kill with a sword than to take a shotgun, for example and BLOW the unfortunate soul in question to oblivion. Anyway, so its tarnish, eh? Huh, I could have sworn on my life it was rust, but, you have your real eyes on it, not me, so I definitely put my confidence in you and not my opinion. Cool, no steel abrasives needed. See you metaphorically later. Peace.

Thanks, man. It's cool having friends, I forgot how much fun I have with them, even if they are online friends. I don't know. See you later, Eric...heh, you know what would be funny? I saw a guy at BJ's who was in the same mold as you, and I was thinking, would it not be kind of funny if we ran into each other, (not literally) at, say, BJ's or something like that. Of course, you live in Virginia, that would be impossible, but it would be cool nonetheless, to meet any of guys, or gals (Yangdu Martino is the only female I know of on this site. Could it be that this knife fever is almost exclusively a guy thing, or have I not been exposed to all the other resident female knife experts out there? I'm not asking because I'm trying to find me a girl into knives, though that would be cool, I am genuinely curious, let's hear it for the knife loving women out there, eh? Okay, peace, this time for real.

Well, I found me one. True, she came from the other side of the planet. You have to cover a lot of ground to find a good one.

She only has one khukuri. She came here to get its design. See http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/334527-seeking-advice-on-a-khukuri . Only having one khukuri, one good one, she is quite formidable with it.

Red Flower posts here on the forum sometimes.

Cool, that's two. Yeah, and I bet she is formidable with that khukuri in hand. With the right presence of mind, uncommon knowledge and hardness of will, anyone can turn into a fighting machine with a good khukuri, I think. All it takes is knowledge of your target, know yourself, and know your enemy, and you probably won't do anything wrong. I saw the late Rusty and Bill Martino in that discussion, and I am sad that they are gone...good people die young sometimes...tough stuff, man, I wish I had known them.... Wait, are you implying that you have a relationship with this RedFlower women? If so, congratulations, man, that's cool. If not, that's cool too. And if I pried into something private, forgive me, please. But, anyway, yeah, thanks for bringing me up to speed on that Howard Wallace, that's really cool. Write to you all later, and peace.

Yes, I like to think I have a bit of a relationship with Red Flower. If you look through that thread you can find a picture of Bill, Yangdu, and her father Kami Sherpa with Red Flower. Pictures of Rusty are harder to come by, but there may be one or two hidden in the archives. Imagine a gruff, stocky, red haired dwarf who, instead of a battle axe carried a khukuri (amongst other weapons) and you'll be close.

We have some other ladies besides Red Flower on the forum from time to time. Mamav (Gin) is one. There may be others undercover. It's hard to tell from forum names sometimes.

Maybe this is a test for prospective girlfriends! Introduce them to the forum and see how they react.

No girlfriends for me. I mean, no homophobia for me either, cause its wrong, but I am straight in my orientation and all. Its just, I haven't quite picked up all the pieces of me yet from the last one, and once I do, I will totally see if there is some girl out looking for someone like me. Until then...I'll be both lonely and bored like you would not believe. Yeah, that's all I got. I'll cry myself to sleep now...just kidding. I'll see you all around. Peace.

its fun to have around i saw others that were expensive; i got this pretty cheap; used it to do some demolition work the other day; good fun. This, the 20 inch CAK and the Cherokee rose and my 12 gauge stay handy. During the night anyways.

if a burglar makes it past the dogs they will wish they had run from the dogs.

Hey Eric,
I was reading what you were saying about old school breaching hawks.
I've got one of these newer Benchmade products.
It's a beast, one piece, I'm pretty sure its as indesctructable as some of the old guard...

i bought this one because its a WW2 model from American airlines when they were using only one A for their logo - maybe i can run it n ebay and make a profit somewhere down the line. But really i bought it because i just like the shape - it is not traditional style like my fireman's breaching hatchet.
