Work Sharp Knife Sharpener

I have been using the Worksharp according to the how the video shows. I alternate sides for about 5 passes each, switch to the finer 6000 belt and do the same thing.

How are you all doing it?

Would it be better to just do one side on the medium grit until you have a burr along the whole edge, then just hit the other side to flip the burr back over before switching and repeating with the 6000 belt?

Sorry you had to wait a month for an answer.

I usually use 150MX, 360MX, 800MX, and 6000 in succession.
Depending on the condition of the edge, I'll do 3 or 5 passes on one side with the 150. When I confirm the burr, I'll do the other side. Then 5 passes with the 360. After that, I do it more as a stop - 1 side, then the other, for 5 per side on the 800, and progress to the strop method with the 6000. I have yet to get a mirror-polished edge, but I also have never failed to get shaving sharp. I usually free-hand now, but if I'm struggling to get the edge I want, or to maintain the angle, then I'll resort to the guides for a bit to get a feel for it again.
