  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Work those ankles! For the woods.

I have seen guys wearing 6 inchers which to me is pretty much borderline. Certain units and specialties as you know get much more leeway about their kit, but day to day 8-10 inch is still the norm.

This is true. My cousin is black ops in theatre and they wear tactical boots with running shoe type soles when doing urban ops. But then again they have multiple footwear depending on terrain.

I just think about my jump boots and cringe at the thought of low cut during that kind of op.

Granted off trail is rough I also have seen ankles go on clear rocky trails as well. People twist ankles in tevas stepping off curbs.

I love going barefoot as well. I've backpacked barefoot for 8 miles, but I try to keep the ankles happy whilst doing so. No matter what you may agree with or disagree with, just exercise those evil joints.

I love going barefoot for a while, then washing the feet, putting on the clunkers and hike some more.....feels great on the feet.
