Workman's knives collection coming together...somewhat.

Great pics!
Do you know which countries these knives originated from? Sounds like a fun project to try to get a workman's knife from each country.

Otter produce a good range of working knives. This is the Webermesser, sent to me by Papa Andi :)

Thanks. And it just had to be in there. It might stretch the definition of workman's knife but it's mass produced, inexpensive and it's built to use.

After WW2 a lot of the British ones ended up in tool boxes and were used HARD. I think they're a great workman's knife, just like the TL-29

Or German knives like this old Carl Schlieper Scout knife.

Passed this one onto another member who will certainly use it more than I. Hawkbills like this were only ever made to be working knives.

The Harness Jack is definitely intended for work.

These old Tyne knives were also intended as working knives. I know a feller in his mid 50's whose been carrying and using the same Tyne knife since he was a boy.

Sure thing. It does get complicated though. Some are patterns that originate from a certain country, but are made in another, and so on.

Jack, thanks a lot for your contributions so far. I've really enjoyed seeing the vast variety!

Herbert Robinson Sheepsfoot, no frills, just a solid working knife!

That is a great collection of working knives. I think you got all the bases covered.

Looks like a very nice collection. I think I'm going to start looking into these types of knives. I'm a working man. Titanium frame locks are getting boring.

Fine idea for a collection/array.

How about a wood handled Sodbuster type knife from Europe? I'd like to suggest a CASE Slimline Trapper in delrin: slim, light inexpensive and versatile.

Thanks, Will

British Admiralty 301 pattern.

Now THAT, is a great knife! I love the patina of age on it, and it's just so classy. It would have some great stories to tell.:thumbup::thumb up:

'The rain was driven by the stiffening wind, and the small escort destroyer pushed through the stormy swells of the North Sea."

Get a Buck 701 carry it with the Kat 55 & you have all the bases covered! I tried the Peanut route.....hated it....sure you can force it to do what needs to be done ....but the 701 does a better job.

Thanks a lot Carl, one of my best finds I think, it was covered in rust and green paint when I got it, but it really didn't take long to clean the barnacles off ;)

Very nice collections! I think, the item " Workman's knife " will be an endless story, you than should narrow down your collection to a specific country, like France; they do have so many regional knife patterns which all are workman's knifes?
