World cup fans?

boy, i thought we were terrible. the effort was there, but SO MANY GIVEAWAYS! unforced errors. it is their achilles heel. i realize that Germany is a good team, but man...it was driving me crazy. play simple.

with that said, glad i get to watch another USA-played game!
Sooo USA got wupped the other day & they are still advancing??WTF kind of crazy rules are those?
Oh geez, sorry you lost ladies, dry your eyes & have another go at it... but against a different team than the one that beat you. ???

Nonsense I say, give me sudden death any day.:p

yeah, i hear this argument. really, the opening stage is a warmup for the real tourney. get enough points, and you're in.

it is similar to other sports, in that they try to get the best teams through. for example, many sports have 7 game series. golf tournaments play over 4 days. if two teams play on a given day, just cuz one team wins doesn't mean they're better. but, with that said, this is why folks like the NCAA basketball tournament so much...especially those who like to root for underdogs.

so, what can i say Myke? just start watching now and you won't have to worry about it. ;) it's the knockout round. lose and go home.

Wait, now it's sudden death?

Aw screw 'em, just like a bunch of little girls, they can't make up their minds..............:p

:D

okay just watched the Mexico v Netherlands highlights, Mexico deserved it, that penalty was a joke and the Mexico goal was

yeah, i missed that one. i usually watch the recap shows now, but the sox/yanks are on. i did get to watch most of the greece/costa rica game.

i wish i could see the France/Nigeria game tomorrow. i like the way Nigeria plays, and France is a decent team. but, i will be "working from home" to watch the USA game Tuesday, so i can't push my luck.

Did the US gametime get changed tomorrow? Me and a couple work buddies were talking about it friday after work over beers. and, i referred to it as a 12p gametime. guy came in today and said the game was at 4p...the late game. i could have sworn that last week, the schedule showed the game at noon??

oh well, the 4p gametime actually works better for me anyway.

good luck, ya Yanks :

also can you believe they're STILL not playing it on the local channels, a curse on your house channel 36! (...news you need to hear my butt)

oh. well, ESPN pays good money for the rights, i bet.

another frustrating USA match. i'll tell ya, they could be good(ish) if they could get out of their own way. still, just too many giveaways and unforced errors. timmy howard kept 'em in it tonight. what a game. and, i have to hand it to the US squad...they sure didn't pack it in (a la Nigeria). as scrunchy-faced as i am, the better team ultimately won.

How you holdin' up Todd? They did well, you're right about Howard, I was impressed with beasley, their left wing fella, and they sure didn't pack it in, those last 40 minutes were some great watching football.

(I can understand why he's on the pitch and he's a good player by the look of it, but I thought they could have benefited from taking Jones of, he got in the rig places a lot but didn't seem to have what it took to take advantage of any it, just my highlights review :))

Heck they had chance to win it at 90' and could have pulled level twice in the last par of extra time with just a slight breeze or touch of the grass, I'd say they fought hard enough for it.

I've been so backed up watching matches, I've avoided this post like the plague. Bummed about the US, but Belgium and France are favorites cause of heritage.

at least Jones played a good tourney. bradley was terrible all tournament. i can't even explain it. but, can't imagine why he was not replaced. i suppose it is because they just don't have anyone better. i'm glad Yedlin got some PT yesterday, though too bad for the reason. i have been shouting for him ever since his first appearance in the Portugal game. he clearly made them a better team. his speed is something.

all in all, the US had a good showing and they can keep their head's high.
