That was an intense game! Sad we didn't pull off the win, but we're in the same place as Germany now. Come on USA! Let's get a win or tie with Germany and move on to the next round!

Talk about a roller coaster. After giving up the early goal like that, fighting back to take the lead and then the last seconds goal. Good game. Would love to see another good one with Germany and walk away with a tie or win even.

Without a doubt... they were claiming victory the last few minutes saying how perfect the US coaching was, etc. Then boom... It was a sick cross, but I think the U.S. should have not let that goal in.
 
Good piece on Sports Science regarding that cross. They likened Tim Howard's possible reaction time to that of a MLB hitter facing a 100 mph fastball, 3/8 of a second to determine whether to attack the ball or stay on his line.

Now that's funny! I'm going to have to keep track of the game via Internet today. Now that we have our little cutie, can't go spend a couple of hours in a restaurant. She's worth it though! Go USA!

Jones is playing his ass off again but I hope he doesn't draw another yellow card.
 
No shame in that loss. Considering our lack of rest and travel from Manaus, we played well today. If Bradley returns to his best form and Altidore can contribute, we still have a chance at another win or two.
 
Anybody know what this means??

USA and Portugal both have a Win, Tie, and a loss = 4 points
They also both have a total of 4 goals . . . So who moves on?
 
it's by goal differential, so goals they score and conceded get factored in, then compared to other countries (in this case against Portugal).
 
Having a hard time watching Bradley to be honest. Guy needs to step it up...big time. Happy as all hell that we went through however! Quite an accomplishment.
 
Yep, we left something to be desired, but I'm glad we are through! Onto the knockouts.
 
There were a few times we looked like we were just sitting back playing for the tie and realized oh crap Germany's playing to win. Maybe we were just tired due to travel and what not.

We made it through though. Time to really step it up.
