That's a great looking knife. I love those green scales!
Thanks! The green bone was a very pleasant surprise from Glennbad. I told him to run with it and he did a great job.

Very nice Walt! I have a Boker 940 Scout that's set up that way (with the pen) but the bail is on the main blade end. Thanks for posting yours!
Sure! I remember looking at your pics of that Boker--very nice!

Here's a V-42 Stiletto that came from my brother's father-in-law. He served in the First Special Service Force in WWII.

Chris,
I got to handle a V42 knife yrs.ago.Seen a few(Very few) over the yrs.Hardest thing to find was an original sheath! If your relitive is still alive....set & talk to him about the BRIGADE....I wish I could talk to him....he is living history....not many of those "MEN"still alive!

Unfortunately, the former owner of the knife died of cancer years ago. That's how my brother ended up with it. My sister-in-law showed me a copy of her father's military record, listing his duty with the First Special Service Force, however, she didn't know anything about it.

By the way, this knife seems to be nickel plated. I have posted it before, but no one was able to explain how or why this one was plated. It's the only one I've seen done this way.

great historical knives everyone.
Does anyone have one of the handmade Buck knives of this era? As I understand it, large scale (still handmade) production of these knives began to support the war effort in a church basement.

Chris,
Nickle Plated....never saw one like that.I have a # of books on the Devil's Brigade, tried to get everything I could find about them! Three yrs.ago at Blade I saw this table with a V42 on it under glass with some scrapbooks of WW2. Old Guy was sitting there....nobody was looking but me! I said Devils Brigade ...he smiled said yep!He said go ahead & look....Scapbooks were of ....nothing but....THE BRIGADE....Old original photos...I looked & so help me...thought "IF"only that knife could talk!!He told me he was selling everything....wanted $5000.....told me ....nobody asked ...or cared... but me ! I didn't have the $5000 & asked if he would be at Blade next yr.(Yeah,I was thinking,I'll have $5000 next yr)! He sort of smiled, said no,won't be alive that long!I wished him luck & said I would look for him next yr.He wasn't there.....
