Anybody have hands on experience with a Kabar Grass Machete? One of my brothers is looking for a good machete & he's leaning toward the Ontario. I'd like to steer him to a Kabar but I've never handled one. His only special requirements are 1. Not made in China & 2. Carbon steel.

I've got a Condor Golok but he wants something more "regular" looking &with a 16 - 18" blade.

Thanks!

I really like mine. It's sort of a cross between a machete and a chopper.
Good weight, good steel. Plus, according to Moose, the baffles can silence whale screams.

Cool! Could you make any comparison pics with, let's say, a tweener, bk2 and a 14/24 or 11?

Here ya go.

Here it is compared to my Buck skinning knives that I have used for years and years. (Buck 691C and a Buck 103)

Hope that helps.

*snip* A whole lotta pics *snip*

Hope that helps.

That definitely helps! Thanks a lot for these pics, that's very kind of you. Really helped me out in creating a mental image of that blade. Good looking thing, I might have to add it to my list now, sigh

Hey, that's not too shabby. The author knows his knives.

My dog decided it would be fun to play with a skunk at 4:30 this morning. She smells exactly like Budweiser.

Try this:

De-Skunk recipe
1 quart 3% hydrogen peroxide [brown bottle stuff at any drug store], 1/4 cup baking soda, 1 tsp dish soap. Mix and wipe--skunk smell vanishes! Then thoroughly rinse your dog.

Thanks, I'll try that. She seems very proud of her new fragrance.

Looking for a new to me pickup is driving me nuts. I think I've found the one I want for a really nice price, but I'd have to buy it from my sisters ex who I dislike, so I'm trying to find one elsewhere. The one I found is a 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500 crewcab for $26,900. 20,000 miles and immaculate. Some nice extras that I would end up adding and $3,000 under book price. I guess if I buy it I could put her name down for who sent me there and he would have to send her a $100 check for the recommendation.

It really works, I used to have a damn wiener dog that had to get her nose in everything.. Pour it on the dog slowly and let it foam up.. I guess as it foams it strips the oils, I made two batches and then washed her with regular shampoo and couldn't smell even a trace of skunk.

Big Dub - that looks pretty sweet! One of yours?
I'm not familiar with the maker. Do you know his work or is this your first look?

Someone posted a link at BCUSA. It's a Bernie Garland Bushcraft Recurve. Made in England. Pricey, but he sells a kit at a very reasonable price. I believe you have to supply the wood.

your dog will end up blonder and blonder as the summer goes on :)

there's an enzyme wash you can buy, some people just keep it on hand if they know their dog is a skunker. one swipe, and all that skunk stuff is gone. keep a tub out back too ;)

survived a backwoods boozin weekend. 4 wheelers, guns, bows, knives, grillin, beers....what more could you want? :D

brought my 10 and it shined all weekend, i cant get enough of this thing!

Spent the weekend at the parent's. Tonight we did a small fire in the fire pit. Taught my cousin and his kids how to use a fire steel along with some PCB. Used the TMHawk along with the King today to process some wood. Also taught the older kid (13F) proper knife technique so she doesn't accidentally slice her fingers off. I'm going to talk to my cousin about getting her a Mora for when they are camping.

Now I'm sitting here watching this cooking competition about cooking a $50,000 burger and none if them look good for real. I'm pretty sure my "fat guy" burger would decimate all of them.

Morning folks.

How's everyone feeling today?

Enjoying my first cup of coffee and getting ready to walk the dog.

Morning Gus. Try that grill out yet? I've got one in the cart waiting for your review to hit "place your order".
