Worst Info ever!

There used to be a store that had about 3 locations locally. One day I went in, and there was some new guy behind the counter, who looked barely 20 years old. He was reading a book, and there were no other customers in the store at the time. I asked to see a couple of models I was interested in buying. He sighed, put his book down and sauntered over. After I handed them back, he went back to his chair, and I asked to see another model. He rolled his eyes, sighed loudly again and talked to me like I was the kid: "Okay...but just one more, and that's it. I can't keep doin' this all day." Approximate time of the whole interaction: inside of 60 seconds.

How did he expect anyone to buy anything, esp. mid-to-high-end, without examining it first? I had spent hundreds of dollars on various knives at that store over several years, probably when he was still in middle school. No one else was there at that time, and I'd never had any problems before. At that point I no longer wanted to purchase anything and said, "You know...forget it" and left.

I don't need huggy-feely service, but I do expect someone to actually want to sell something and have basic manners. I'd never complainted about service anywhere before, but that guy really p'd me off. I did call the head office to make them aware that the new guy's poor attitude had dissuaded me from a purchase, and if he was always like that, I probably wasn't the only one. The owner was a cool lady who actually cared about customers and offered me some knife-related perks, as well as had a talking to the guy (she called me back to inform me of the situation). I'd spoken to her about other things previously, and she was pretty knowledgeable about the products. I was sorry when all the outlets eventually went out of business sometime later.
