Worst knife you've ever purchased...

Current updated version of the MOD Hornet. It is junk pure and simple. I have the original version too and it is in every sense outstanding. Matter of fact I bought a Boker Magnum Police Folder for 12 bucks off ebay. Just on a lark and hands down way better than the AUS8a version of the Hornet. keepem sharp

I bought a knife at Walmart for 94 cents as a joke. By the time I took it out of the package the plastic liner was broken. I think I learned a bit of a lesson from it though.

The knife is pretty cheaply made out of roughly stamped parts, the lock is untrustworthy, and the blade steel seems like it's not even heat treated. It's gummy to sharpen, seems like really low RC, hard to deburr etc.

My usual carry knives are Spyderco ZDP, VG10, and Kershaw SG2. I guess I'm used to knives withfitting, steel, and costs (!) of a different order. The funny thing is the nearly same priced kershaw ( forget the name, but it's under $20 at wal mart) made in china with aus6a knife is a nicely made cutter whose blade takes a nice edge and framelock locks up tight. What's wrong with it???

Joe pretty much answered for me. Everything about it is cheap
and it has a badly placed pocket clip.

Joe, I wonder if you're talking about the LFK made in Japan?
It's is in that price range at Walmart.

Last year I bought a Ka-Bar K2 folder with the warthog blade. The shape of the blade just got me, but since the time I got the knife I regret the purchase. The steel is way too soft, pivot screw has to be tightened on an hourly basis and the lock does not engage.

Another candidate for me was the 'German Paratrooper' knife that I bought from an ad in Shotgun News back in the late 80's. It was a 'gravity' knife, an OTF with no spring. The handle was huge relative to the blade size. Nonethelss it was very quick to get out and put back, like most OTF's. I liked the fact that the release effectively formed a guard, not that common a feature for a folder back in those pre-flipper days. As a military design, I figured it would be robust.

The blade did not really lock open--any sort of stabbing motion would cause the blade to push back into the handle. Eventually it broke and stopped working altogetherl. I took it apart and fiddled with it, but eventually just threw it in the trash.

ColdSteel ODA..junk, I wouldn't butter toast with it! $70 out the window!!!!!

cold steel why are people still buying them.Did anyone see the new lineup:thumbdn::thumbdn: they are selling their high end folders made from aus8a.spyderco 8cr13mov is comparable to aus8a and that is their low end bird knives.

Maybe if you're willing to sand down the rough parts and do some filework on the lock release... I can think of many better knives to spend my $40-50 on.

I love my ti-lite. And I have other better knives to judge it by. The ti-lite is a really cool and durable remake of the old 1950's "switchblades". And it does exactly what I expected it to do. It's not a practical knife but it's just too cool!

But, I do agree with what you have to say about the sharp quillions. I actually rubbed cardboard, wood, and rubber up against them. It got them dull quicker then anyone would think. When I was done with that, I loosened up the blade and the pocket clip, then added some lube on the blade. It now works excellent:D

Although I can't related to your lock release comment, because I've never had any trouble with sharp parts on the liner lock!?!?

My worst knife I've purchased would have to be a non name brand multi tool I found in a dollar store. The pliers broke in half when I was trying to rip apart a soda bottle! That's what I get for buying a knife in a dollars store! But I was around the age of 9-12.

I forget the model but it was a Bark River. Dull as hell, never would take or hold a good edge. Must have been a dud.

Why does Maxam suck so bad... I see they have a cool looking clone of earlier Delica versions:

Looks pretty cool for someone who wants an older Delica (you could probably make the hole round if you really wanted to)

Most disappointing was CS SRK,broke at tang when it felt on the concrete floor.Wouldn't expect that from survival knife.

Don't take this personal. Not aiming this at you in any way.

Part of the answer to your question is that they "clone" knives.
The other part of the answer is that they are using such cheap crap
it's probably broken in the box before you get it.

Most peeps that want an older Delica will buy an older Delica.
Drilling a hole bigger in that POS would make it even weaker, if that is possible.

Just stay away from the cheap copy cats and buy a decent knife that will last.

looks can be very deceiving.

just because it looks like a delica, does not mean it feels, cuts, and functions like a delica.

Last I checked impact weapons did not need to be sharp to be effective... they just need to have a point of some kind, preferably one blunt enough to not penetrate. If the quill-lion were chamfered it would be no less effective. On a good liner lock like the Military, it is difficult to accidentally close and yet still has a very grippy release.

Wait, what? What is this in response to?

The roughness of the quillions of the Ti-Lite.

Ah, sorry! I've had that happen before too. You compose a response without quoting, and by the time you've posted, four other messages have been posted before it. Just threw me :D

Cold Steel Pocket Bushman.....

Sorry but could you elaborate a little? I'm thinking of getting one cause it's below 30 bucks and 4.5 inch blade! I'm worried if there is something I should be aware of.

Thanks mate.
