Worst knife you've ever purchased...

Honestly? a Benchmade 940 last year. I was super excited for it too but it was insanely dull out of the box compared to my insanely sharp OTB Grip and it developed blade play in minutes of playing with the axis lock. Every time I adjusted it, it just loosened up again. I was just extremely let down by i especially after all of the amazing things I heard about it on here. I ended up trading it for a ZT. I like tactical style folders more than gentleman/traditional style anyway.

My 940 was the same.

I sharpened it on my sharpmaker and threw a little loctite on the pivot. It still has a teeny bit of wiggle but I really like it as an edc.

Worst knife I've purchased was the crkt m16-14sf. I actually really liked it out of box. It was sharp, I could wave it from my pocket, it had a flipper for deployment as well.

But the liner lock broke in REALLY late after a few weeks. The auto lacks system with a liner that is kind of f'd up became way to cumbersome for me.

Several Gerbers before I learned my lesson. Something about their steel just won't sharpen up for me. Gerber Para, Gator, and EZ Out. All were junk IMO.

The worst knives I ever purchased were made by/for Frost Cutlery of Chattanooga TN. I knew they weren't great knives when I bought them, but I wanted some first hand experience.

Ok so I have several knives that are horrible that broke down on me, but the ones that bothered me the most were the ones I impulsively bought. Two of the ones that come to mind are the Buck 110 and Kershaw Cryo (small). The buck was fantastic out of the box, but the day after it developed a weird patina and the lockup got super tight on me. Eventually I gave it to another guy who loved it. As far as the cryo, I just hated almost everything about it except the Hinderer design shape. The blade rolled the first day I used it, the stainless steel scales are way too heavy for a knife that size and the lock was way too tight and had no way of comfortably disengaging. Needless to say, after some lube and removing the spring and putting jumping on, still doesn't feel right.

PS I literally almost bought a paraframe the other day.

Kershaw Asset. What sucks most is that I loved the knife at first. But after almost a year with it I wish I'd never even ordered one.

Kershaw / Emerson CQC - 1K.

This thing is a $5 liquor store knife and that's the absolute truth. I tried to remove the pocket clip, but the loctite proved too strong. Even after heating the screws with a soldering iron, they just stripped out. I tried using a pair of pliers after that, but at this point I'll just have to grind them off. This is the first knife I've gotten that came with an extra set of clip screws..... go figure. The pivot came way too stiff but that screw has the same problem as the clip screws. I know it will strip instantly so I didn't bother. In fact, after I destroyed the clip screws, I just stuck it back in the box because I was so pissed. I am no stranger to knife disassembly either.... never stripped a knife screw before this.

The whole knife just has the look and feel of a gas station knife. Emerson should be embarrassed to have his name on such a pile of junk. Used to be that you could count on Kershaw to be a good knife and Emerson? It's obvious that he and Kershaw teamed up to make a ton of money selling junk. I think i paid around the same price for my Leek, which is light years beyond this.... After this, I'm through with Kershaw and Emerson. They lost a lot of integrity with this release IMO.

^ that's how I stripped the pivot on the Kershaw dimension, they Loctite the screw so bad and have shallow torx holes,it just rips the torx right up.they gotta cool it with the excess Loctite..

I don't think the age of this thread really matters
It is the title of the thread that invites responses that, in general, are not that useful to other viewers
"worst knife" is interpreted too broadly, becomes an attack on the manufacturer
As stated by another poster, the product experience is often based on poor research, impulse, hype, etc.

Sog multitool lock doesn't work Blades will fold on your hand. The sheath what a piece of crap kept pulling sideways and the tool would fall out. Finally fell out and I didn't hear it .No great loss. But I'm out 50 bucks,Don't waste your money on this one!

Worst knife I have ever purchased was a Gerber Bear Grylls Ultra compact fixed blade. While I normally don't buy the brand, I was on vacation and thought the little fixed blade for $30 would find a niche in my EDC. I was disappointing to find out that the only thing this thing would be useful for is butter knife. The HT on it may be botched or something as the knife does not hold an edge. After using it to cut my first cardboard box with it the blade had dulled. I first gave it the benefit of the doubt and though it was dulling by rubbing on the sheath. So I sharpened it and went back at it! Two cardboard boxes later and the knife that had just shaved the hair off my arm was now struggling to cut cardboard. Looks like its going to end up as a throwing knife in the garage.

Case Mini Trapper in Damascus. Not because it was a bad knife, but because it fell out of my pocket within a week of owning it :(:

Ditto on that Gerber Trendy. Unlike enderwiggin, I actually did put my hands in my pockets fast to get my keys. First time was the worst, stabbed decently into my middle finger, bled profusely, but I figured (hoped) it was just a fluke. I was more careful after that, which explains why the second cut & stab wasn't as deep. The third, well, I'm a dad, I got wrapped in doing things around the house & for my kids, getting that thing off my keychain was not my highest priority. I was so mad the third time it went right to the top of my priorities & it was gone.

I had a TOPS Marine Heat that I just hated. The handle was way too small and the blade shape alone with the narrow blade being 1/4" it just didn't work.
I am not a TOPS hater. I love the B.O.B and my current High Desert knives.

A winchester knife don't remember the name or what it looked like. I bought it opened the knife and the lock did not engage and keep the blade open so I got rid of it

That's too bad, that's a nice knife. I carry all my traditionals in a pocket slip for this reason, I would only be a matter of time before I lost one.

I've noticed that most Chinese made Kershaws are built with potmetal hardwear and too much threadlocker. Also these Emerson/Kershaw collabs use phillips rather than torx, and that certainly doesn't help. You're right about the prices of the Leek. I remember when you could pick one up for $30 bucks. Now you'd be lucky to score a Blem for that price.
